Soooo pretty. The detail is amazing, and the plumage (is that the right term?) on the peacock is just mesmorizing.

Wow, nice. My future plans are to pick up a 28-135mm and a 70-200 2.8L USM IS lens soon.

I would love to have that 70-200 2.8 IS, too! It will take a long time until I can afford to it though.

Oh believe me I am very far from owning that lens as well.

I have a 50mm f/1.8 lens right now. It's excellent for day to day usage however I do wish I had a zoom lens like the 28-135. That is on my list next. I also want the 550ex flash as it is almost a neccessity to own.

Nice shots! I'm sure you'll put that 70-200mm IS to good use when you get it. Despite its awesomeness, mine doesn't get much use anymore :(

The first two photos were taken with the lens at 300mm, with the 1.6x crop factor it translates to 480mm zoom. Most consumer digicams do not go higher than 200mm.

:Q

The only reason I can think of for not using it is weight.

Ahm, how can I calculate the "zoom"? :D I don't get it in mm, I need something like 3.5x zoom ;)

also, how many shots do you have to take til you get the ones you posted? Do you know which settings to use from the beginning or do you take about 3-5 shots from each object?

That is difficult to compare. My old Minolta camera had 4x zoom from something like 35mm to 140mm.

The lens I used at the zoo today is a 4.2 zoom (300/70) but the reach of the zoom is much longer because the lens starts at 112mm and goes up to 480mm on the digital Rebel.
