  • The PSU is an older Corsair 1200, and the case is an EATX case I intend to mod to hold the 360 rad. Video card is not determined yet. I might do 2 980TI's until I get 2 1080 TI's. About $2000 without case, PSU, video card or storage drives.

Is there a reason you are only going with 2x8 GB of ram? Missing out on the quad channel.

Its 2 x a 2x8 kit, so yes 4 sticks of 8 gig samsung bdie 3600. $400 just for memory. But based on Ryzen, and its love of memory speed, and this is 2 Ryzens, I went as high as the mobo allows.

These are supposed to be the best 2% of all the chips coming from the wafers. Could see some all 16 core's @ 4.2ghz or so. Even 4ghz would be strong.

The chip comes with a bracket that is supposed to work on all common AIO coolers. And this cooler was mentioned on Toms in regards to this situation. Yes a chance it will not work, but I think the odds are with me.

Considering Asetek's role in the AIO ecosystem, the bracket will grant wide compatibility with existing closed loop coolers."

Plan is to have a dual custom water loop in push/pull configuration in my Caselabs STH10. My case is currently getting powder coated in a 2 stage color as well so I'm pretty stoked for this build.

Arctic actually was the first to say their Freezer series was compatible so it should be fine.

All the new Freezer products that are Ryzen compatible are compatible with socket TR4.

I have a Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate which is just a Thermaltake branded Asetek 360mm AIO. Would the base of the water block even be large enough to cover the cores under the IHS?

I've got that same one. It should be enough where you shouldn't worry. If you have doubts, cut out something that matches the IHS specs and hold it up to the cold plate/head.

Home gaming server, content creation, research, etc. I'm sure streaming games to the rest of the house simultaneously will be fun...

I will be using it as my work and personal machine. My work requires I have a lot of simultaneous VMS running plus multiple instances of visual studio and other database programs so it will be nice to have some extra horsepower. Personal will be gaming and some streaming.

Nice thread! I'm still only in the "dreaming" phase with TR, as I splashed out on multiple Ryzen 5 1600 rigs, to fill my computers desks with. So no room, and no money, for TR. You can call my setup a "poor-man's TR" though.

Gotta say, I dig the packaging too.

I'm glad I held off upgrading my 6700k to Ryzen. Had I upgraded I would have skipped TR. The initial bugs put me off and with x299 being such a disaster, I was so happy to see AMD announce a HEDT platform. This will be my first AMD rig since the Athlon days.
