Seems better now with the change to the "black" theme (thanks GtPrOjEcTX) and the addition of the code in the .css file (for Mozilla/Firefox, thanks jliechty) which essentially eliminates the separator bar for the most part. 100% will make things even better.

I think it is unnecessary for there to be all those anandtech links on the top of the screen merely because these are the forums. If they want to read articles, make them go to Anandtech webpage. Please do not get rid of the navigation bar though, I use it all the time! Also are we stuck with the puke yellow window color or what? I also don't like the space between each message (it's purely unnecessary). Other than that, the forums look good!
Quick some hit control-z. If your going to get ride of the navigation drop down on the top at lest put the one in the bottom back.

The new layout works well with the Black. The navigation pane on the left is really an improvement, thanks people!

The blue surrounding the banners does not fit with the rest of the color scheme and it is too distracting. It breaks the flow from the Anandtech tabs to the body of the bage.

i agree with your first comment it looks fine at 1600x1200 but i wouldent want it on anything lower
also that blue bar is horrid, it works with the default color theme but not with aoy of the others
The big "blue" ad areas are just ugly....
And I do not like the placement of the top ad.... in between the forums and the AT homepage... it just doesn't look or feel right.
Move the top ad to the bottom or to the very top... not in between

the new setup is retarded from a functional perspective. i'm scrolling way more than ever, and i have 1600x1200 resolution.
first, a big chunk of my screen is wasted on the AT menubar. if i wanted to go to AT, i'd go there. put a small link at the top if you want to encourage people to go there. the entire site nav bar is way overkill.
second, the side bar decreases usuable browser space by a ton, even when you've scrolled down away from it and can't see it anymore. if you want to show ads, show ads, but at least put them at the top and bottom where they don't squish the forums. and the "toolbar" is the answer to a question no one was asking. not to mention you can't even see what it says because the catagories are too long. so please, for godsake, let us make it go away.
third, underneath the AT nav bar, I have a giant blue blank space, about twice the size of the nav bar. YAY! MORE WASTED SPACE!
fourth, the spaces between posts, yup, you guessed it, waste space, AND i automatically think i'm at the end of the thread after every single post.
not to mention, i'm sure this crap dramatically increases server load on every page, and slows down page rendering times.

As much s it pains me to say this because you have worked hard on this new and [not] "improved" layout, I must say it sucks horribly. I have to agree with spyordie007 in saying you have much to learn if you think the current set up with AT nav -> Ugly Blue Bar -> Ads on top-> Mandatory Menu Bar -> Ads on left is good and ergonomic. The AT forums used to be, in my opinion the best designed forums up until the stupid ad bar on the left was added. I also must agree with thomsbrain. If I wanted to go to the AT mainpage, I would go to www.anandtech.com , not forums.anandtech.com .
