You're not over 50, not elderly....you must be rich!

I wish. I vote because I think it is a necessary and proper thing. I also vote because I want to have some control over my government.
So it's YOU who voted Riley in!

I'm 18 and i think this idea is beyond crackheaded, that should say something.

But you lose when businesses leave by the hundreds as they have been because their success is penalized and the labor market is ridiculously over priced.
Listen to Amused. All you Rubes from the midwest stay there, the costs of housing is outrageous, there are earthquakes every other day, Drive Byes on every street corner, the sun never shines, the beaches are filthy, everybody speaks spanish, the Governor is a Kennedy in Republicans clothing, all the women are silicone friendly, every other person is gay and Amused says that it sucks there!

LOL.. so you're not the only one who noticed?

And remember, California is the most racist place in the country. Closet racism is so rampant there... trust Amused, he used to live there and he knows everything there is to know about the state!

Wow... in all 2 years that you've been eligible to vote, you haven't missed an election yet!? Kudos to you! :)

No seriously, its encouraging to hear some young people are actually exercising their right to vote

if you give 14 year olds the right to vote, sooner or later a law will be passed that lowers age requirements to 14 years of age (i.e. beer + smokes)

This is a great idea...why shouldn't kids be allowed to vote? It might actually make some kids care and get involved in what's going on. I think a lot of people don't vote because all of a sudden you're 18 and you've never had to do it so you don't really care.

Considering how little most of the 18-25 year olds I know give a sh!t, should this go through (fat chance) I'll be surprised if it makes any noticable difference.

i think the reason this issue is bought up in the first place is to stack the Liberal Democrat's votes.... 16 and 14 year olds are just too immature to separate the Left wing propaganda from the truth... it is the "in" thing to be a democrat when young and those who support of this cause to lower voting limits(or at least give voting power to the young) show just how desperate they have become!

Red, there is a reason CA lost a signifigant portion of it's businesses and tax base in the last decade.

Hell, I grew up there. I like the climate. It's the people, the politics and the overall anti-business atmosphere I can do without.
Yeah Californians do seem to have a problem with people who think they know it all!

I don't see any problem giving the youth of the nation the chance to count as 1/4th and 1/2 of a regular citizen. I hardly doubt they could affect any significant voting number, although the first election won by 1/4th would prove me wrong. It would also allow kids to get involved in voting and allow teachers to give voting excercises / inform their students. Like, a history teacher could stress the importance of voting to a class full of 16 year olds, which would get them into the habbit.

I never got into the habbit of voting, I am now 22 and still havn't exercised the right to vote. I don't really feel like it. I'm not saying that if it had been beaten into me during HS, then I would have done it, but its worth a shot.

Oh yes they are... and we should know. We WERE teens at one time. Why the fsck do you think we know they're so damn ignorant?

You were ignorant because you didn't have a right to vote. If you had the right to vote, you would've taken the time to review the issues.

Right, kids would debate politics in between their Pokemon games.

Hell, I don't know it all, I don't even pretend to. I have no idea where this is coming from.
