ah thanks, how come it seems like some of the planes are going upwards then? do they really climb at such a steep angle?

When I worked at NRL my office mate was doing research on contrails. They are actually pretty interesting and there is now research showing that they may actually lead to cloud formation in some cases I think.

you know, when you look up into the sky on a clear day, and you see a far off plane leaving a vapor trail. what are these, really?
as a kid i used to think they were rockets. now i know better, but i don't really know what they are.
i'm thinking jet plane.

From the link: "Possibilities include atmospheric and weather modification and biowarfare. Many theorize that it s part of a clandestine operation to implement the New World Order (NWO) by eliminating society s "useless eaters" and the infirm and/or to reduce the population to a support level for the "elite"."

It's dependent on altitude and contrast of temp of the exhaust and air at a given altitude. Increased moisture can cause them at lower altitudes....when there is moisture in the air, the contrails will seem more fluffy...if it's drier, they'll be a lot smaller/finer.Originally posted by: jtvang125
Why do some planes make it while others don't? Is it dependent on altitude and weather?
