To have the car totaled to reduce the energy transferred to the passengers

Thosse engineeres really designed this car well.

I cannot think of any modern car I wouldn't want to be in during a slow speed rollover. Well, I am not taking those oddball manufacturers like Geely. :p

Wow, glad you and your family came through with just some minor bruises. My brother had a roll-over in his SUV, and he described pretty much the same thing as you. First feeling dazed that he was upside down, then helpless before unbuckling his seatbelt and getting out of the SUV.

Glad everybody is OK.

I don't see how that is totaled.

Only the front top half crumple zone needs rebuilding and it will be fine.

A-pillar is hosed, and the car is not worth repairing after that. Nice pics and a story with a good ending for once, OP. Glad you are all doing well.

Glad you are ok! sheesh scary stuff.

I can't drive without a seatbelt on. it just feels weird. I also do not drive unless everyone in the car has theirs on.

I always wear a seatbelt. It is just second nature to reach over for the belt after starting the car.

Glad to hear everyone is OK. :)

For what its worth, and although my car was totaled. Walking away from a rollover speks highly for Saturn as far as I am concerned:thumbsup:

Isnt that the truth right there, glad your ok, sorry it happened, but like you said, you all walked away from it. Good luck in moving on from here and putting this behind you. Hope all goes well for you and yours.

Yes seat belts work. Here is what's left of my car after my teenage son was done with it a few years ago. He went to fast in a curve and went sideway into an incoming SUV. The car was cut in half.
He ended up wiht a soar back and face (Air Bag).

Luck is also a big part of survival. Tragicaly last weekend, our neighbour's 20 years old kid got killed in a car accident. He was a restrained passenger in the back seat, getting a drive from a party with a drunk driver. The driver and front passenger survived. What a tragedy.

Glad you guys made it OK.

Sorry about your loss. Did he wear the over the shoulder type restraint? Or was it the over the lap type? I am so happy that my Civic has over the shoulder types for all 3 passenger areas in the back.

Personally, I never ride any car without a seatbelt, and I even get nervous when people don't wear them when I am driving, no matter if they are sitting in the back.

One thing that pisses me off royally is that I have friends who will call me a b$tch or p#ssy because I get mad that they don't wear their belts. :/

The car they were in was a fairly new riced up honda civic hatchback. They went in the ditch upside down backward at aproximatly 70 MPh after hitting a bump on the road and going airborned. The front pasenger was ejected and escaped with minor injury, no seat belt.
The driver was belted and sufered serious injury. He will be OK. He will also be going to jail.

Ironicaly, the kid that got killed lost his own driver license recently for DUI.
