For being half plastic Saturns hold up quite well in crashes , if only the motors in them didn't suck.

Glad everyone is ok.

Shiz it'll wHOOP your hondai

No it wouldn't. I had a 97 SL1. I loved it until about 70000 miles, then everything started to fall apart. :(
Besides I don't dive a Honda.

Both of our Saturns had over 100,000 each car. So, in a long road race say, 100,000 miles, my car would have pwned yours.

What about a Chevy MALIBOO?

Glad you and yours are okay.

PSA: don't start a flame war in a thread like this. Its generally uncool in any thread, but especially moronic in a thread where someone is relating a harrowing experience.

I was sharing same views on how safe Saturns are. They are very safe by my standards and has been proven by others.

:Q Yikes, glad you're okay. That must've been scary as hell.
Wearing a seat belt is such a simple and effective thing, I just don't understand how people don't do it. On a side note, you might want to send a thank-you note to the engineers at GM. ;)

Yes seat belts work. Here is what's left of my car after my teenage son was done with it a few years ago. He went to fast in a curve and went sideway into an incoming SUV. The car was cut in half.
He ended up wiht a soar back and face (Air Bag).

Cavalier

Luck is also a big part of survival. Tragicaly last weekend, our neighbour's 20 years old kid got killed in a car accident. He was a restrained passenger in the back seat, getting a drive from a party with a drunk driver. The driver and front passenger survived. What a tragedy.

Glad you guys made it OK.

Sorry about your loss. Did he wear the over the shoulder type restraint? Or was it the over the lap type? I am so happy that my Civic has over the shoulder types for all 3 passenger areas in the back.

Personally, I never ride any car without a seatbelt, and I even get nervous when people don't wear them when I am driving, no matter if they are sitting in the back.

One thing that pisses me off royally is that I have friends who will call me a b$tch or p#ssy because I get mad that they don't wear their belts. :/

Ordinarily I find him annoying, but I do not see any problem with his first post in this thread. There are other posts of his that are more deserving of your (pathetic) attentions.

Whats left of my car...boo

So yeah, it was an interesting day. As I was heading for the Post Office I got into an accident and rolled my car and its totaled...just like that.....in the flash of an eye. I dont want to go into details over the whole thing because it was pretty frightening, but I will be posting pics of what was my car as soon as I get down to the towing yard. I think the pics will speak for themselves. The worst part, and oddly enough the best part of the whole thing (because our selt belts and car seats kept us stationary and locked in), was that me and the kids were hanging upside down for awhile...ugh...its hard to describe that feeling. I truly felt completely helpless and dazed beyond reality for a minute. Went to the ER and got checked out, we are all okay for the most part. I got the most damage from it (thankfully) because of the airbag deploying into my face and I had my glasses on, but all three of us walking away from it with bumps and brusises is more than good enough for me.

I am so thankful you and your loved ones are OK!!!

Thank You.

BTW, our Saturns were a '96 and a '98. We have now made our way over to '88-'92 Benz's.... somehow...

Damn. I can attribute the wearing of a seat belt to saving my arse as well... Totalled my F150, and I hit the steering wheel (resulting in my bottom teeth going through my life, and my top and bottom lips ripping a bit from where they are joined in the mouth).

Saturns are great cars in accidents. Typically they are totalled, but they protect the occupants well.

Well thats the point isn't it?

To have the car totaled to reduce the energy transferred to the passengers

Thosse engineeres really designed this car well.

First he cuts the pie with a knife, but not just any knife. It has to be a sharp cutting knife, not a blunt table knife. The knife has to have at least a five inch blade, because you don't want to get pie filling on the handle when you push down through the pie to cut the crust. Cutting completely through the crust is very important, or you can lose some of the filling that is attached to the left behind crust!
