Bet you would be mildly offended if it was Allahmas.
Just get over it. Christmas is a western Christianity holiday. Other religions celebrate a holiday this time of year.
Calling something a Winter Holiday is not uptight political.
It is the acknowledgment of the fact that 90% of the world is not Christian.

The entire egotistical Christian society gets on my nerves.
Not quite 90%

As "egotistical" as those pesky Christains seem to be, idiot know-nothings who spew pure, unadulterated sh1t that flies in the face of known statistics are even more annoying, wouldn't you agree? :)

Well the first number was one I pulled out of my ass. But seeing as how it is truly only offensive to 2/3's of the world then carry on... Merry Christmas!

"Merry Christmas" is not offensive to any sane person.
"Happy Holidays" is not offensive to any sane person.
"Happy Chanukah" is not offensive to any sane person.
"Happy Kwanza" is not offensive to any sane person.

If a wishing of good tidings offends you because of the religious affiliation of the person, you are a complete an utter moron.

Do you also get offended when someone says "gracias?" ZOMG! My native language is not Spanish! I'm highly offended at this obvious war on my heritage!

I think all this is much ado about nothing. Seriously. I can't believe the whiners. I am the most steadfast atheist I know, and even I don't give a rats ass if it's called Christmas or not. I equate the word "Christmas" with family, good wishes, presents, happiness, etc. I don't associate it with the religious connotations I don't believe in. So there's no reason for me to be offended whatsoever.

I don't really care because I'm surrounded by assh0les who couldn't give a sh*t about me either.

EDIT: I just read the previous post, and I was right about being surrounded by assh0les. :)

No. I shop for gifts online and I stay in my cube 11 hours a day so I don't really talk to other people any more. But when they do, I don't think they say those things to me. :brokenheart:

whenever people give me a "merry christmas" around this time of year I always give them back a "happy hannukah"
i'm neither christian nor jewish, i just like using religion to make people feel seperate from each other. i mean it's irony, on a base level, but it's still a hoot.

Its funny how Fox news and other right wing nuts have made this non-issue an issue. Mind you the same fox news was selling "holiday" items on their site. Even Laura bush says happy holiday.

Now you see it

Now you don't

Even the people that believe just about anything fox news says, does not believe it.

Or better yet. Bushs white house holiday cards. You will notice it does not say Christmas on them.

Again, another right wing rant about the evil liberals and also the ability to make a non-issue a issue so people will stop asking about all the corrupt republicans and all the soldiers dieing in Iraq.

What about Eid el Faitr? (probably spelled it wrong)

I can't fathom how anyone could possibly give a flying fvck about what the holiday is called.

This is the most moronic crap. Listen, I'm a pretty die hard Atheist but seriously, there is no problem saying Merry Christmas. Sh!t, I say it all the time. And it defintiely doesn't offend me. I don't even associate Christmas with Jesus anymore. With me it is Christmas = Santa Clause and presents. I even put a Santa figure in the nativity scene we have at our home. Santa fits in really nicely with the three wisemen. The nativity scene was my wifes idea, adding Santa was mine. I just don't like to exclude any fictional characters during Christmas. :)

Who cares. If you want to say Christmas; say Christmas. It's a holiday based about Christ, changing the name is just absurd.

Its just another adaptation of human culture... After all, Christians stole all of their holidays from pagan culture: http://de.essortment.com/christmaspagan_rece.htm

Hey we don't "steal" we ... uhhh... borrow, yeah, and improve things. that's it.;)

So, what you are saying is that there are only certain groups and individuals within a group that focuses on these things? Yes, I can see how you can use that argument to criticize an entire political affiliation.

Smooth move, Ex-lax! Fortunately, not all liberals are quite as retarded as you.

OK, so show me some other large group that is not tied to the Republican news network (fox) or some religious group that is screaming the sky is falling because someone actually said Happy Holiday instead of Christmas.

And how old are you that your best retort does not even cover the topic at hand but goes on about "Ex-lax". Real mature and I guess you showed me.

It's not the mainstay Republicans or even the real Christians who are making a stink out of this, it's the extremist wing of the Republican Party and the Psuedo Christians who are known as the Fundamentlalists (Fund A Mental Cases) along with that sh!tbad Bill O'Riely who's looking to boost his ratings by bvy pandering to idiots who actually believe this nonsense about a "War on Christmas"

I've made no claim that the majority of the people who are behind this nonsense are not probably Christian and Republican, but to assume that they represent the entire Conservative/Republican/Right-Wing spectrum is foolishness.

And any man that wanders into an ATOT discussion in search of mature discussion on which to feast will undoubtably soon die of hunger.
