This thing is INSANE!

Why they would zip a WMV I cannot figure out. You cannot compress a compressed file (like wmv), But anyways this thing is super dooper mad crazy! Check it out!

i think it looks cool, but ultimately its the same thing as those machines that do it, but its in a case

now for a second I thought this was a FUNCTIONAL computer with this built inside.....now THAT would be insane

That would be, but the fact that this guy did it with miscellaneous parts he found on ebay and did his own "engineering" makes this Insane! Gotta give the guy credit; he has talent, creating this involved several academic disciplines: programing, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, knowledge of cullenary arts, etc. and not to mention the dedication and craftsmanship in assembly.

It gets my thumbs up when its in a case, alongside a PC and not causing much ill effect such as condensation and adding unsuitable levels of heat to the system.

Come on now, check the file size.....they saved a whopping .1mb by zipping it! Also just FYI, while very true that compressed formats like mp3 dont zip/rar WELL, it still does save a very small amount of space. Not enough to care about, but it is space saved

Nice, for home amateur standards, but not enough to draw any real attention. I agree, if there was a real computer running in there then we have something going. If the package could be made into a smaller portable case, then even better. Literally take a small form factor machine to do your computing AND make coffee. Now that would be something worth drooling over.

Even if he apapted an existing expresso maker, it still took some work and customization, And it looked like it made a good cup 🙂

But definately needs a sff comp in it.

I can imagine some cartoon sketch where someone takes in their SFF PC (actually a coffee maker) to work and pretends to do work all day but instead they are just abusing their PC-like Coffee Machine. Shove a temp sensor LCD in the top bay and pop it in the water to get the right temperature water. If anyone asks why your PC is running that hot, just say you are running a Prescott to help the company save on their heating bills.

Apologies to Intel and the Prescott core for the shameless flame but its the physically hottest chip going and fits in perfectly.

And if they'd used WinRAR to compress it (even to ZIP format) it would have saved 0.2MB.

So might I ask then, if this thing isn't even really a PC, just an espressor maker, what's the point? Especially this bit: "Most parts were bought from an online auction house over a long period of time. Altogether, they cost nearly $3,000."
$3000. For a coffee maker.

Impressive work, I'll grant that, but I've learned to try to avoid doing custom projects where you can just buy something comparable for a similar price - I mean, if the R&D expense has already been absorbed by a large company, there's no need to put your time into doing the same work again.

I think this project was probably just a learning experience and probably quite fun for the person that done it.

I bet that machine also makes a better cuppa than most machines.

Once I finish studying and break into a paying job, I would love to get into watercooling my PC and perhaps going into creating my own custom system with its own personal quirks.

i thought it was gonna be a fully functional computer with a water cooling system that also made coffee...now that would be "insane" this is not

Yeah, just use a prescott processor to boil the water....
