I wonder what is worse, terrorism or the authorities in NYC..?

How about whiny little pukes like your friend? It's just an Ipod, for crying out loud.
Go fvck yourself? Our civil liberties are being trampled left and right, and it's jackoffs like you that we have to blame for it.

Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.

Exactly what is happening but the sheep are too entertained by their 'reality TV' and who is fvcking who to care about what is really happening right in front of their faces.
It's funny. I got banned from another forum for totally owning the admin over a very similar topic where the admin was happy that that totally innocent man in London got shot and killed. Bunch of bullsh!t. Arm yourselves and you'll have a much better chance against "terrorists" than every government organization put together 😉 Oh, wait...you can't arm yourself in NYC, can you? Or maybe you only need to part the red sea to be able to...

Yup, and our gov't is doing such a wonderful job of protecting the US citizens, right? After all, that's why we gave up our liberties and continue to do so.

I wonder if people will ever wake up to the fact that the real terrorists are controlling this country and have been for a long time.

you some kind of communist or your hormones out of whack?

Some cop breaks my stuff for nothing, even *IF* I am an as$hole (this is part of america you realize), yet does nothing to apoligize and then threatens to kill me if I pick up my music device...I will be p!ssed.
you freakin ass - can you read? the Ipod was NOT BROKEN! it fell to the ground by accident and was scratched. freakin read!

Benjamin Franklin didn't live in a time of nuclear weapons and portable bombs the size of a cellphone.

I call shens on the OP: probably was being a punkass.

What station was it? I would've got the cop's badge number at least. Also, everywhere I've seen a search, there were people from the NYCLU filming the procedure to document possible civil rights violations.

59th st, along the A,B,C,D,1,9 lines. I have never seen anyone filming anything.
To tell the truth, I've only seen cops searching folks twice (both times filmed at Union Sq and 86th st). Which makes it an even more ridiculous policy.

you freakin ass - can you read? the Ipod was NOT BROKEN! it fell to the ground by accident and was scratched. freakin read!
So if you get pulled over by a cop and he walks up to your window dragging his gun along the side of car, scratching the paint, it's "all gooooood," right?

You should take my advice to sixone.

are you dense??

the point is that his personal property was damaged, he wasnt given any apology, and he was threatened for something as harmless as an IPOD. He then still wasnt given an apology.

It was cosmetically damaged as a result of the officer's recklessness... if his same reckless act caused some other form of cosmetic damage, such as the disfigurement of jewelry, damage to your clothing or more signifigant electronics, it would all be the same concept.

Cops are always power-tripping, especially when they are assigned to do things like searches. Is your friend middle eastern looking? I think the searches are alot worse if that is the case, becuase the cops become suspicious right away and treat them like sh!t. Atleast that's been my experience...and don't say it's becuase I must have been cocky or something, becuase I'm not stupid enough to do something like that, just makes the procedure longer...

And that matters?

There will always be ways to kill people. There will always been newer and more powerful weapons being developed. The idea expressed in Franklin's quote does not suddenly change because of that.

You can kill a person easily with a pencil, or a shoelace, or even your bare hands if you know where to strike. Are we now going to start searching for pencils and shoelaces? Should people have their hands cuffed behind their backs each time they ride the subway system? Or better yet, why not just chain each passenger up like cattle so he/she can't move at all and is unlocked at his/her stop?

Do you get it, yet? Everytime you give up a bit more of your freedoms, the men in charge or going to find more excuses to get you to give up even more.... until someday the scenario above isn't so far fetched.

A$$hat dropped it out his side window as he was driving down the road. I whipped around, but he was long gone. If I'd have found him, you would have been reading about me.

dude, it's only YOUR driver side mirror for crying out loud - maybe it was a NYC cop on his way to arrest Osama Been Forgotten.

anyway, I think your friend should have asked for the badge number. Taken pictures and filed a claim with the metro/police station.

Can you kill thousands of people with a pencil in the view of the general public?

I also take the subway everyday (E Train from Penn to 53third/Lex) and have been searched once. The officer pulled me aside had me open my bag and passed me along. I also had headphones on and a music device, that he did not confiscate or question.

That cop is a fvcking dumbsh1t and should be the one shot on the spot. The world would be better without a few extra pigs harrassing us.

moshquerade, you're just being a bitch, arguing semantics. That's usually what happens, though, when you run out of actual arguments/justifications.

"Well, well, well...well you're ugly! There!"

It's illegal to drive without a driver's side mirror. His car was rendered illegal to drive and inoperable. I'd have sued for lost wages too.

Same difference. I keep my ipod in excellent condition. If anyone scratches it, they owe me a new one. Just because you don't value something doesn't mean others don't. The car analogy was appropriate.
