I wonder what is worse, terrorism or the authorities in NYC..?

How about whiny little pukes like your friend? It's just an Ipod, for crying out loud.

Bullspit, thats personal property. Expensive property at that. You telling me an officer cant tell the difference between an Ipod and a bomb? If not, then this city is doomed.
whatever, the story is probably missed some pieces, like your friend being a d!ck.
the iPod isn't broken, but still, sue the city.

No, he wasn't. He was more than willing to be compliant, the police officer just reached for the device and dropped it.
dropped it by accident or threw it to the ground?

which is it?

I would believe that it fell by accident, but he made no apologies about it and threatened to shoot. It was ONLY at that point my friend raised his voice.

The police officer grabbed the Ipod and dropped it to the ground. My friend freaked out and asked the officer what the fvck, and the officer put his hand on his pistol and told him he will be shot on the spot if he attempted to pick the Ipod up.

My friend is heartbroken over his brand new Ipod being gashed on one side and he is selling it now.

I am dumbfounded by this. I cannot believe the sh!t the police officers/army are getting away with in NY. Illegal searches and just plain disrespect from these jackasses being supported by the Mayor.

I wonder how long it will be before people in NY start revolting and the police just start shooting people for fun, and use the excuse of terrorism to get out of it. I am actually scared as hell because I have a short temper and I know I will be killed for something stupid and trivial by an NYPD officer.

I wonder what is worse, terrorism or the authorities in NYC..?

JUST TO CLARIFY: My friend was a supporter of the searches, he was being 100% compliant. The officer just grabbed the ipod and dropped it to the ground. No apolgies, and he threatened to shoot. Plain and simple. There was NO mouthing off from my friend. This happened in the NYC Subway, 59th st station. D line.

I would have picked it up...but not before screaming out to everyone around the the cop threatened to murder me.

Okay now I understand, Sometimes when I do something stupid and know it I get a little uptight and defensive too. I?m sure he was sorry was too manly to say it.

I would have picked it up.

And you would have been arrested or shot, when you did absolutely nothing wrong.

Many cops are power tripping assholes and most people that have dealt with police a few times realize this.

How much longer before the SS Troops start invading a significant number of homes? (they're already invading a small number regularly)

... and still the masses sleep and remain inert and uncaring.

ahhhh, so it fell by accident and now you think NYC is doomed and everyone's IPod is going to be destroyed because the wires may resemble bombs wires

Go fvck yourself? Our civil liberties are being trampled left and right, and it's jackoffs like you that we have to blame for it.

What station was it? I would've got the cop's badge number at least. Also, everywhere I've seen a search, there were people from the NYCLU filming the procedure to document possible civil rights violations.

Also, I haven't heard any other complaints of searches taking place on trains or even in the stations past the turnstiles...I'd think that would get some serious press around here, because that is most definitely NOT the protocol they're supposed to be following.

Exactly what is happening but the sheep are too entertained by their 'reality TV' and who is fvcking who to care about what is really happening right in front of their faces.

That's fvcked up. I live in NYC and I have my ipod sticking out of my pocket every day. So far, no searches since I look like a 15 year old (I'm not!). Do you know what train station it is? Did your friend take down his badge number?

I normally have no problems with cops, but they've recently come off as major asses here. And I don't mean after the terrorist stuff. They've been ticketing for all sorts of BS rather than doing any real work (and if you live here, you know most of them just stand around, occasionally smoking cigarettes). And they demand a raise for it.

Next time, tell your friend to refuse a search. He'll have to go to another station (or leave and come back later), but they can't require it. There is never a time a cop should tell a regular citizen that he'll shoot him.

59th st, along the A,B,C,D,1,9 lines. I have never seen anyone filming anything.

Sorry, but if I had to choose between a dropped ipod and a bomb on the subway, I'd chose the dropped ipod. HAve your friend sue the cops, thses things happen. small claims court should do the job.

be glad he wasn't in London. they would've shot him.

in london? I don't think so.

I have a tripped book for christmas to New York (possibly proposing to gf) where I plan on taking a weekend's worth of my luggage with me on the subway... if there is even the slightest possiblity that the cops will make me feel uncomfortable on your subways, you can kiss my few grand in tourist revenue goodbye

It's funny. I got banned from another forum for totally owning the admin over a very similar topic where the admin was happy that that totally innocent man in London got shot and killed. Bunch of bullsh!t. Arm yourselves and you'll have a much better chance against "terrorists" than every government organization put together 😉 Oh, wait...you can't arm yourself in NYC, can you? Or maybe you only need to part the red sea to be able to...

heh. they have a 'shoot-to-kill' policy against suicide bombers. if this guy acted suspiciously and was adamantly disobeying their commands in London the police can put a bullet in his head.
