This porn documentary on PBS is god damned disgusting.

Porn != Prostitution

In prostitution, at least ONE of the partners are enjoying themselves. In porn, usually nobody is. Men have to keep it up for ungodly amounts of time (and don't tell me about your last marathon session with Rosy Palm either) and both men and women have to get in some really unnatural positions to look good on camera.

Men and women both, to be truly successful, have to be switch hitters... Be able to work with either sex and look like they're enjoying it.

As a photographer, I've been to a few sessions, and can tell you it is NOT fun for anybody. But some people are able to make a good career out of it, and actually enjoy what goes with being a porn actor.

Quite laughable. You're kidding right?

i havent seen firsthand, but im gonna agree with DurocShark here, i would find it to be extremely depressing.
if you think its so great, get out from behind the computer screen get out there and do it buddy, more power to you.

You haven't seen firsthand. A porn shoot? Or are you insinuating that you've never seen any porn flick? Please elaborate. If it's the former, most people haven't. If it's the latter, why are you speaking to the point at all?
A guy doesn't shoot his load unless he's enjoying himself. Go pound your fist again in case you forgot.

yes a pornshoot. ive seen porno movies. do you really think an orgasm is that enjoyable after the umpteenth time that day with some woman that is completely faking it? yeah, that sounds great.
try being in love and having sex sometime, it will be good for you. you will find it is quite different than your porno movies.

That's quite an assumption that you seem to know me so well. You told me to go for it and not be on a computer. However you are obviously nothing more than a cyberpunk in your computer chair. Some lame computer geek that can speak about telling other people to try having sex. I can state that I've had plenty of sex but that matters not since I can't prove it, and wouldn't care to prove it by scanning some pics or encoding some video then posting it for all to see. Your statement is so asinine on your part I believe I should ignore you from here on once I've spoken my peace.
Speaking to the point:
Yes, I know. It's so utterly horrible for these men they must be doing it under the threat of pain of death. Unless you can get Peter North, Ron Jeremy or another male porn star who has had his career span decades to voice his complaint I think you shouldn't speak for them. It's quite obvious that the job isn't all that bad.

Even people that say 'they know porn' don't know WTF they are talking about.

Porn is a hot ticket item....just like prostitution is arguably the oldest profession.

Also you don't have to be a 'switch' hitter at all. Some women won't even do men scenes with penetration yet have great careers. It's about your looks.

Being a Porn Actor/Actress is about a mind-set, it's not for everyone.

Did you intend to only bold "I think you shouldn't speak for them" since bolding both sentences doesn't serve your point at all. That's most likely because you don't have one.

here is where I have a differing opinion on porn from other people. Here in NC, there are a lot of "amateur" porn stars. I think this state ranks second only to Florida in numbers.

I have met some of these women. When they asked me to participate I have always declined. Not because it wouldn't be fun, but because these girls are always looking for the next "thing" to keep hte money coming in. Married but you only have sex with your husband? Your site will not last long at all. So they constantly need new people, new places to keep their cutsomers happy. And that is my point exactly. Once you stop having sex on camera for free, I think you should loose the "amateur" nomenclature.

No, I won't have sex with someone who'll profit from my exposure. And I think that's where much of the i-porn business is heading. There will be a saturation point where new talent is automatically absorbed by a large porn corporation. The days of seeing amatuers are numbered.

Yes I know. My example of two well known porn stars of which have careers that span decades long matters not. Your point of my being a hypocrite really doesn't matter since it doesn't really make any sense.

I do not assume that being a male porn star is good and would not be one no matter what the pay is. As I was being insulted earlier about it by a cyberpunk, I do place a higher value on sex with my partner than just getting off. It has always been that way for me as it is for most people that I know on a personal level.

I find the porn industry to be quite disgusting. Each and every person involved in perpetuating the existence of it should hang their head in shame. That will not happen as porn is actually becoming more mainstream which is a sorry state of affairs in itself.

However, I'm only speaking in retort to the point that we should feel sorry for the actors. It is my opinion that sentiment is completely misguided.

Just because somebody has a long and illustrious career doesn't mean that it's something they enjoy every aspect of. Take big rock stars for example. No many of them enjoy being in a different city every night, being unable to go out to eat without getting flooded by fans, ect. But, the popularity and money is addictive and alluring. And they stay in the business because of it.

Besides, other than Ron Jeremy, John Holmes, and to a lesser degree, Peter North, how many men in the porn industry have major name recognition? Not many. At all.

These guys aren't in it because they can get their rocks off. They are in it because of the fame and publicity.

no one here, unless someone's been hiding a porn career, can testify to whether they actually enjoy the sex they are having during porn shoots.

like a few have stated, i would assume that sex isn't as enjoyable anymore when you are performing it in front of a camera in front of a crew of people. if you disagree, fine. at least admit we are both just making guesses.

I haven't done it...I have known a few that got into it though mostly temporary at the time, but it's self consuming. Even if you are not so well paid it opens doors for you in places you wouldn't be able to see normally....back stage passes, VIP rooms, etc. The way it usually works is they shot to be in movies, then in TV, then in commericals, then in stills, then that card Joe Pornographer puts pulled out and a phone call is made....usually about the same time they are 3 months late on rent and got the pay or pack notice. A couple girls in my area went on to do playboy/penthouse and a few others are in movies and tv now.

Also some porn stars will say the sex feels good mostly, but most of the time they'd rather be doing something else....sometimes it's painful and not fun at all.

It's along the same lines of a new lover expecting you to tell her/him all your previous sexual encounters were forced and terrible.

You may consider me of low morals, but I wouldn't mind being filmed in some high class porn flick, for example, like The Pyramid from Private (and it's not b/c of sex or money, I think I got a talent of an actor, plus, there would be at least something to remember when I'm old, too). However, that would never happen coz I'm a guy and not the best looking one, and they don't hire guys.

just because he's new here doesn't make him any less intelligent. a little unfamiliar with the fact that 90% of ATOT is ready to turn into blazing, sophomoric antagonists at the drop of a hat, maybe, but still, he has a point.

oi, this whole anonymous medium thing sucks when civility isn't maintained.

that was an excellent program. I wish they would do an update on it some time (it's over 2 years old now).

porn is bad. really, really bad. it's too easy to get hooked on and can cost people their marriages and even jobs. I've seen it happen too many times. :(

I said I was going to ignore you, but I'll be sure to do so from now on. Your point about me calling someone else a cyberpunk really had absolutely nothing to do with you. You do so with your skewed sense of self and having your axe to grind with me solely because you don't like my opinion. You neglect to notice, or chose to ignore that I was told to get out of my computer chair and be a porn star, first. That was being a cyberpunk towards me and there really was nothing else that I could have called it.

Asking for relationship advice here would be pathetic IMO. Sorry that I didn't utilize a thesaurus in order to find a better synonym. Pitiable? Sorry if you don't like my opinion, and I really could care less if you don't.
One last thing, I really don't care to garner your attention. This is the second large forum that I have found the other one had an ability to ignore. I can't find anything like that here so I'll need to do so myself. I bid you adieu.

To you perhaps, I don't really have a problem with it. I actually think its great that we're finally getting away from being so uptight about sex. Sex is fun, people are doing it all the time. If people want to have sex on film for money, cool. In face I'd support legalizing prostitution

This documentary is neat. I see nothing disturbing, other than the rape/killing video. I really would be surprised if there is not a big influence of watching that sort of video on the viewer's possible actions. I mean who the heck watches rape videos? I bet they fantasize about making their own. It can't be good.
