Most painless way I've found to do it is in the microwave, heavy container with fairly tight lid, 5 minutes per ear on high.

Fast, simple, less mess...

My favorite way is to roast corn on the grill, husk & all.

My mom's said to put it in the pot of water on the stove and when it just starts to boil it's done, so yeah it's not cooked that long. Her's tastes pretty damn good too 🙂

I generally avoid microwaving my food, unless it's leftovers.. heh.. It tastes .. different.

Leave it in the shuck and then pop it on the top rack of the grill

Man, thats the most flavorful corn ive ever had. Got to watch it though or else the shuck will catch on fire, but since you aren't boiling it you wont be eating tap water.

-I like it this way, some suggest soaking it in water first, though I can't see the importance. I have a cousin that likes it cooked like this, but shucked. He claims it taste like candy. I thought it was a bit to dry, but not bad his way.

soaked in water eh. That might be a good idea though. Last time i did it the shuck/husk caught on fire big time.

No big deal, just had part of the cobb burned, maby 1 1/2 inch worth.

Still it is VERY sweet and noticably different from boiling it.

Until it's heated all the way thru. About 10 minutes for the little "half ears" and 15 for full size. At least that how I cook it. I'm still alive, so I assume I'm correct.

my mom does that and she adds a lil sugar to the water.
