It was not I who brought Iran to this thread. The misinformed brought it up linking them to "Arab".

Personally, I think that some of the Iranian president's comments were taken out of context. I think that the US media has a tremendous pro-Jewish slant on it, and they're afraid of the people hearing facts that haven't been filtered for them.
But I'm still wary of Iran developing nuclear power. Everyone knows that the step from nuclear fuel to nuclear weapons is a pretty small one, since once you obtain the ability to refine uranium it's only a matter of how enriched you want to make it. I don't think Iran really needs nuclear power for energy production, and I think that they are trying to develop nuclear weapons.

The first one admits life must be discreet, but people love their HOMELAND. WELL DUH!
The second is an old man who could not adjust to his new home and... loves his homeland. DUH!
Neither do anything to discount the FACTS I posted. All they show is that some people will love their birthplace no matter what and have trouble adjusting to new lives outside their homeland. This happened with people who defected from the USSR to the US back during the cold war. Does that mean the USSR was not oppressive?
Finally, your BBC article even AGREES with many of the legal and political restrictions in the Wiki I posted. Did you even read all of it???

I'll name you several
A) Jews are allowed moderation when it comes to their dress-code. They will usually not get in trouble if they are in a public place and their headscarf is not showing. A Muslim will be beaten and taken to jail or fined.
B) Jews are not being forced to join the military. It is mandatory 2 year service.
C) Jews, being a very small minority are guaranteed a spot in Parliament. Arabs, Christians, Turks, Kurds? I think not.
Iran does not nuclear power. They have a very horrible energy crisis at the moment. Their oil will eventually run dry. Right now they are exporting 4mbpd and are buying back 2mbpd of that very oil. That leaves them with 2mbpd of oil revenue. Their energy situation is only declining rather than improving.
During the Shah's regime, Iran came out and said they are going to get nuclear weapons. The U.S didn't care and went ahead with the planned construction of 20 nuclear reactors to be build inside Iran by the year 2000 I believe it was (not sure about the exact year).
Now today, Iran is a Regime that is worried about attack. A nuclear bomb will prevent the U.S from ever attacking them. So they have every reason to want a nuclear bomb because they are afraid of the mighty U.S. A nuclear bomb is a guarantee that nobody will touch them.
I don't think it has anything to do with Israel at all nor do I think Iran will ever do such a barbaric thing such as launching a nuclear weapon at Israel. They have stockpiles of chemical weapons already on hand, but refuse to supply anyone with those weapons. In a sense Israel is safe in that regard.
However, what a nuclear Iran will do is give Iran more power to arm groups such as Hezbollah with more strength. It will also allow Iran to move into the Palestinian territory and arm them with more strength.
Basically it will give Iran the power to act like the M.E bully and do whatever they want.

This is a very interesting article on an aspect of WWII that I have not before known of or considered. One thing that bothers me about this is that I have always understood one of the reasons Germany lost the war was due to running out of oil. This situation is supposed to be one of the main driving factors for the American drive to control as much oil in the world as it can.
How could Germany have run out of oil in WWII if they had a strong ally providing them with oil? I had thought the pursuit of oil was the main reason for German involvement in northern Africa.
Apparently, Iran did have an alliance with Germany. However, it must have been a minor alliance that was not fully committed since Persia/Iran has not been considered a part of the WWII Axis alliance. This makes me wonder why Iran did not commit itself more to Hitler. I think the result of further commitment would have been dramatic for the whole world.

So i just have a question. you went on a study trip. What exactly are you studying and how is it that all of these women let you take pictures of them? Was it one of those "Hey its the creepy american with the camera again!"? BTW i do agree the landscape is beautiful
if they were just laying there i would have took one ran to some secluded place and fired some rounds in the air...just one of things i want to do before i die
