Every time I hear about a union in the media it's always either violent or disruptive to the longevity of the business at hand. I think we can all conclude at this point that they should just be outlawed, with the power rightfully consolidated back into the hands of the well meaning Job Creators that are trying to take care of us.

Bottom line: unless you think people "deserve" to be dependent on handouts to survive, people "deserve" $10-15/hr wages at a minimum. Business leaders get off on maximizing profits so we can all rest easy knowing that nobody would be getting paid that much to flip burgers, at least not for very long. Those positions would be automated, consolidated, or whatever it would take to make them profitable. Unemployment might rise for a time but, as conservatives just love to point out, the market is self-correcting over the long term.

That's the problem, people thinking that minimum wage jobs are long term jobs and should be able to support the family on it. Sorry but that's not the real world. Raise minimum wage and everything else will go up, raising minimum wage Magically doesn't solve the issue.
 
No, the problem and unfortunate reality is that many grown-ass adults do raise families on or just above minimum wage because that's all that's available. The awful small town (and everything around it for a solid fifty miles) I grew up in is that way, top to bottom. You're seriously a high-roller there if you earn 16/hour.

You seem to have a very clear idea of what "minimum wage work" entails, but I'm telling you that there are entire industries that pay all their workers peanuts. I'm talking about agriculture and manufacturing jobs too, wholesome blue-collar work, they pay 11/hr (22k/year) if you're lucky. If minimum wage jobs were limited to the fast food industry, that would be one thing, but they're not, not even close.

The "real world" is a ton of people working multiple minimum wage part-time jobs supporting families...

The "real world" consists of the majority of the world's population living in developing countries doing shit jobs in relative poverty for "minimum wage".
 
I love my union too.

Awesome salary, free healthcare, pension after 20 years, and tons of hate from jealous losers who wish they had it that good.

Exactly. People complain how the media twist facts and leave certain ones out but always believed the negative Union news.

Too bad they don't mention when the Unions give back to their community, volunteer or put on a fundraiser for a cause..
