People like this man scare your customers away, and may be a risk to you. They might have a knife or be doing drugs or something like that.

Sure, I'm not an economic mastermind. But I do have eyes and ears and I can see what's happening. Small businesses get SCREWED when minimum wage goes up and people living on fixed incomes get SCREWED when the prices of everything go up as a result of the wage increase. Our prices keep going up (to keep up with minimum wage), we lose some business to some retired folks who decide they can't afford to eat out anymore. I've SEEN IT happen and have listened to the customers complain.
They can pass that additional compensation on to the purchasers or they can cut costs another way. It is the natural progression of free markets.
If you're not such an "economic mastermind" then how did you decide what you think you are seeing is right?

Nobody on AT is an economic mastermind. So why do we debate at all? Why do people with engineering/teaching/english/construction careers debate politics? Because it's not that difficult to figure out. I'm sure you'd love minimum wage to be $30 an hour because you think businesses are an endless supply of money and that all workers everywhere DESERVE and NEED more money.
