I turn the channel every time the Emirates commercial with Anniston comes on.

I wonder if that is what they had intended?

The segment of people that ad is targeted at totally understands it. The whole rude FA's in the galley gossiping and ignoring the pax is spot on basically every US carrier (some are worse than others)...even in biz or fc cabins on three class planes.

but she's so relatable

So true ...

World leaders are meeting in Davos attempting to close the gap between rich and poor and Emirates decides to air this commercial. Either really bad taste or poor judgement on their part. It makes Aniston look contemptuous of anyone but the uber rich.

I got that. Most of us are not the demographic.

I've done my 25 years of business travel, to most places you would never want to visit. I'm tired from years of as many as 12 BT per year and am now enjoying the twilight of my "career", NOT going on BT!

Get that photo album going!

When I flew, Singapore got the first class baggage off first and had someone standing there at the carousal with them waiting for us.

The winner on that flight for me was 2007 Opus One - could drink this for days, but my wallet will only allow a taster.

Should I book..

First Class, 62.5k points with British and a $400 surcharge or
Business, 50k points with AA no surcharge.

Assuming LAX-LHR (or vice versa) you'll be wanting First Class on the A380.

Business on AA's 77Ws is fine but that's about it. Nothing special by any means and the food/booze sucks as usual.

how many hours is the flight and where from/to?

First is John Wayne to DFW to LHR (11 hours) to Rome. Also get the first class lounge at LHR and John Wayne is much closer to my house than LAX.

Business is LAX to LHR to Rome.

Seems like a joke unless they upgraded their planes since 2014. these first class seats look about as big as Lufthansa/Cathay business class seats.

I'm not exactly sure what airplane they'll be using anymore. Site says 777 but by going by the flight number, it says 747-400 which is this.

http://everybodyhatesatourist.net/t...row-lhr-review-around-the-world/#.VqksfyorKUk

They supposedly refitted the first class flights with that style now.

oh, I need to read better. sorry =X

I'd still keep the $400 and spend it on pre-boarding and post-arrival massages. That seems like a pretty standard American first class offering, which is saying looks like an international business class seat =X

BA's first product is fine, their 747 is old, but the seats were just installed a couple years ago. Its not emirates or an asian carrier, but I think it still beats US intl first.

AA's business could be on the old 777-200 is 3 across the middle, which blows.

I would pay the $400 and get the concorde room at LHR (assuming DFW flies into terminal 5), and the first class admirals club at DFW.

I thought the options were SNA-DFW (AA codeshare) to DFW-LHR (BA 777) to LHR-FCO (BA whatever)

or

LAX-LHR (AA 77W) to LHR-FCO (BA codeshare)

So it looks like all of the flights from Dallas to Heathrow are 747-400s or 777-300s which are their newest ones so I should get the new first class seats.

I think I'll do it just cause it saves me an hour drive to LAX, I get to check out the Concorde room, and I get into Rome earlier.

AA only flys the refit two class 777-200s which have the new 1-2-1 seating just like the business class cabin of the 777-300ERs between DFW-LHR.
