well it's better than economy I guess.

You'd think with a name like AIR FRANCE they could make business class croissants worth a damn, but you'd think wrong.

From reading up on Alitalia, people are saying that their food is amazing.

I'm only commenting on the AF side. I've never actually heard of Alitalia.

Italy's main airline and a part of the SkyTeam. Emirates actually just bought them I believe so they're going through some more upgrades too.

Very informational thread. I learned how valuable reward points are. I might have to apply for for Chase Sapphire Preferred now so I can transfer my Chase Freedom points.

My one way flight from BCN to LAX in business is about $4,000. Got it for 62,500 points so about 6.4 cents per point.

First class LAX -> DXB is a solid 25k one way, so I got an amazing ~38 cents a point :awe:

Did you use Alaska Air? All I saw was 90k for first class.

sorry? Emirates LAX -> DXB = $25k or ~65k points. I SUSPECT that only 1-2 first class seats per 16 hour leg are available at the low low price of 65k, because I was under the impression that such a ticket would be north of 100k points.

Oh I thought you meant you got it for 25k points. Emirates First Class are only 90k points using Alaska Air points one way. I was going to do BCN to DXB to LAX but they didn't have an F seat available for DXB to LAX leg. That would have been amazing, 22 hours in First.

I'll do a write up of my trip later but basically American Airlines' international first class is a solid meh. Should have saved points and just got their business which was basically the same.

Alitialia's Business was friggin awesome. Some of the best food and wine I've had on a flight.

Just booked a round trip first class flight from SFO to Hong Kong for 140k points and $96 of taxes on Singapore Airlines in May :D

hatred or jealousy, I'm not sure what I'm feeling right now. I suppose it's not mutually exclusive

LoL. Originally I was going to add Singapore into that leg but I wasn't sure if I wanted to add another 4 hour flight onto my already 14 hour trip. Kind of learned my lesson of how tiring airport hopping can be, lounge/first class or not. Plus Singapore charges some crazy taxes so it would have added another $300.
