This is what you get if you pay $60K USD for a first class flight ticket on Emirates

Good thing there is a bar and a lounge on an Emirates A380 ;)

Would love to do that when I take my dream trip to New Zealand.

My waitlist for my First Class Suites on Singapore Airline cleared last night! Japan here I come!

Awesome. Can't wait to see pics.

I'm flying a domestic delta premium economy leg a week before my Emirates trips. It'll be interesting to see the vast, vast disparity between those services.

Damn you. I will be heading to Asia soon in my non premium, aka regular coach seat for cheap ass.

Where will you land in Japan? NRT or HND? I like NRT better.

LAX to NRT. A nice 10-12 hour flight. It's long enough that I get both dinner and breakfast service :)

I didn't tip with mine. I figure $13,000 flight is enough lol.

I wonder about all the lounges he visited and the little services he used.
Then again, their normal passengers may be so wealthy they don't carry cash on them.
Which makes me wonder if the Emirate employees are really well paid.

Looking forward to your travel story. Thanks for sharing.

If only Nik was still here, you could post a "Yes Nik, this is [insert something witty here] sign".

I don't even know where to start. So much to talk about. Here's the gist.

Flew Singapore Airlines from LAX to NRT in one of their suites. There are only 10ish suites on board. I walked into Bradley terminal and walked up to the separate Suites line and got my ticket immediately and they told me to go enjoy the Star Alliance lounge. Open bar and a food to order menu. When people see your golden suites ticket, you are instantly treated differently. VIP lines, VIP doors, VIP everything.

The lounge would announce when your flight is boarding and you'd see people start moving out. I walked to the gate and showed my ticket and was escorted to a separate ramp into the suites section. A flight attendant on the plane addressed me by name and escorted me to my seat (pretty much room). I get handed PJs, slippers, a blanket, and a glass of Dom P. At first I felt weird requesting stuff but pretty soon after the 3-4 glass of champagne I was making the most of it. Got a fresh cheese plate to go with my alcohol. All of the food was amazing too. Pretty much what you would expect from a 5 star restaurant.

I pretty much drank 2-3 bottles of Dom P and a few glasses of Hennesy XO on the way there. I blacked out and fell asleep and woke up with the worst hangover before landing lol.

On the way home, I was able to use the ANA Suites lounge before my flight which was even better. Noodle bar with food to order and Hibiki 17 year at the open bar. There was even a smoking room, work desks, etc.

Damn I thought people only joked about how ATOTers are rich, I did not figure someone here would actually be going on such an expensive flight lol.

And I can barely afford to take a regular flight. :p Only flying I've done was company paid. Mind you the prices are a bit lower now. It use to cost over a grand just to fly to Toronto. Now it's only a few hundred because of Porter.

airline points + business trips are a wonderful thing. I most certainly would not be able to afford first class tickets on Emirates.

Some ATOTers are doing very well but a lot are ...shall we say..full of hot air.

You have to remember those high prices are like MSRP for cars, almost no one paid the full value. The guy in the OP story in post #1 did not pay $60K USD out of his pocket but used his miles to pay for the trip.

I could pay $4K-$5K round trip from US to Asia in business class or $1.4K or less in coach in the same plane. Let see, 3 trips in coach = 1 trip in business. No brainer there. I could use the miles/points but I sold most of them for cash to brokers and now I only have about 40K miles on United, enough for one way trip from US to Asia in coach.

My trip to Asia will come up soon. I will take a few pictures of the narrow seat, crabby food and drink from the castle class..oppps, I mean coach class.

Suites are $13-15k face value. I got it for 149,000 points and $150 in taxes. :D
