I know exactly one person who has been successful getting an antibody test and they are a sub-contractor for the Navy.

Wouldn't be surprised If I had it back in that time-frame as well. As I've mentioned on here before my drivers were meeting at least 15-20 flights a day from China all through Jan/Feb.

Quest is doing them on demand now. If you don't have a doctor's order you can just pay them $119 and get it done.

Because of precautions and lockdowns, yeah hospitals are low census. Many areas successfully flattened the curve that leads to surges. This vacancy isn't happening in a vacuum. That was the intent. The alternative is 5,000 NYC's with refrigerator trucks outside most major hospitals to hold the bodies the morgue couldn't.

An old story (4/29) also possible re-post but still relevant ... and horrifying.

(Hope they retired those trucks! I'd hate to end up renting one.)

Little bit on the pricey side but cool ... have a link by any chance?

I kinda want a positive antibody results, so I can walk around without a mask like I'm impervious to this thing just to piss off the liberal whiners in my town.

Up there with brandishing an unloaded handgun just for yuks.

Under the CARES Act insurance cos are required to cover the test if ordered by a doctor but anybody can just pay Quest to run the test for them if they do not have insurance.

https://questdirect.questdiagnostic...response/b580e541-78a5-48a6-b17b-7bad949dcb57

So then the question becomes, what does it take and what kind of pressure do the doctors have to not prescribe the antibody test?

Honestly though - who is more "important" in determining if you ARENT sick or not?

What's the point in carrying an unloaded one? That's not gonna scare anybody.

It's like that guy who went to Subway with a used rocket launcher tube. Total poser. Nobody who knows what the word "inert" means is going to be scared of that.

I got an e-mail from my insurer saying that all COVID-19 related tests and treatment are 100% covered. I don't know if that's a CARES act thing, or if my insurance company is just being generous. I'm betting on the former than the latter... my health insurance company is NEVER generous about anything.

None that I can think of. I'm not sure why any doc would be reluctant to order it, mine certainly wasn't.

Scaring random people that you could be spreading virus on them is truly one of the the all time great gags. Comedy gold.

lol the political toolbags of today are out in full force.

If you don't want to lock yourself inside a basement for 12 months straight, then you're just a dumb trumphumper clearly.

Want to go for a walk? WEAR A MASK AND AVOID ANY TALKING, EYE CONTACT, OR TOUCHING! NO EXCEPTIONS! No shopping! No going out to eat (unless its handled by 5 different people but dropped off at your doorstep).

You are really not with it most of the time. I was talking about wearing masks while out and about, not about locking yourself up for 12 months straight. Jeez. The dense is strong with the righties these days.

No - I'm just pointing out the fact that you asserted someone else as a "trumphumper" because they clearly joked about getting an antibody test and running around without a mask.

But you...
1. Took it entirely too seriously
2. For whatever reason, felt the need to assert what you believe their political stance must be... even though the topic of conversation has NOTHING to do with someones political party affiliation.

you left out the part where he said he wanted to do it just to piss off the libs. trust me, that's trumphumper talk, or are you just naive?

and you still won't support your claim that the article about detroit hospitals bolstered your position.

I will laugh last and best. And you are right, I've been smoking some serious shit.... its called REALITY. Not some media-infused hype-job. 1 year = things 99.9% back to normal and everyone wondering why the FUK we shot ourselves in the stomach so bad.

It's more than a year later and I don't know about everywhere, but where I live this is how things are.

I remain masked inside everywhere I go. Most everywhere requests it and many places do require it. I still don't go out to eat.

The children are back in classrooms - mostly - except for when the teacher or a student tests positive and they have to quarantine. That has happened a lot since school started. If I remember some 500 students had to be quarantined in the first week of school. In this county students and teachers are masked.

Hospitals are back to not performing elective surgeries and no visitors for most patients. Just like last summer when my husband had a heart ablation and pacemaker implant and I couldn't be with him.

Last August, when there were no vaccines, one of our two hospitals had 38 deaths from covid. This August, after vaccines have been distributed to all who want or are able to have them, they had 55 deaths. We have more cases and hospitalizations now than at any time during the pandemic. The vast majority of cases are the unvaccinated.

So, as for "1 year = things 99.9% back to normal" . NO. NOT EVEN CLOSE!

If you are not vaccinated and can be - run, don't walk, to the nearest place offering vaccines and get yours. I WANT things to go back to normal. So should you. For your sake and the sake of everyone out there, be part of the solution, not part of the problem.
