I'd love to have a cat again, but of course, a few big problems:
1) if they use a litterbox, and not the (human) toilet, then they effectively walk in their toilet every time they use it, and then of course they walk all over the house.
2) Constant barfing on carpets.
3) If they get a little something stuck when taking a crap, then the floor becomes their toilet paper. Sure you can stop a cat from wiping its butt on the floor - when you see it happening. But how many times do they do it when you're not looking? Perhaps the cat's found that your nice fluffy quilt makes the best toilet paper. Eeewwww.
Nice, cute, friendly, but unsanitary critters.
They are certainly not unsanitary, in fact, they are MUCH cleaner than dogs.
Cats are not cleaner than dogs. They both walk around in filth and clean themselves with their tongues.
