They say 1 drink a day for women and 2 drinks a day for men may be good for you.

So I dont see how someone having 4 drinks a day would be considered "alcoholic"

I know I am usually at work at about 7am and get home at about 4 so I have about 6 hours till I try to go to bed. Having 4 beers durring that time shouldn't qualify me for alcoholism. Crap, I can't even catch a buz with 4 beers unless I drink them all in an half hour.

I know, thats what I'm saying. Drunk sleep is the best. But I think now, if Im not drunk or a little buzzed, I can barely sleep at all. The worst is when I wake up from a drunk or buzzed sleep and I cant fall back asleep because i'm sober...(tonight)

I think that is a sign of alcoholism.

You have seen the warning signs. Cut back or you WILL be in trouble.

It depends on how you define alcoholism.

So only if you get wasted every nite, then you would be an alcoholic?

How about one less beer before wasted every nite?

Here's a way to prove to yourself whether or not you're an alcoholic.

Next time, after the few drinks you gulped down, go out for a drive. Drive by the police station and on the freeway.

You're not an alcoholic if:
1 - You don't get pulled over and/or arrested.
2. You don't get into a wreck and kill yourself or someone else.

;)

I don't know if you're too dense to consider this possibility or think you are a big man and immune.. But YOU ARE AN ALCOHOLIC. Drinking 3 beers, a shot, and a vodka tonic every week day is not normal, and neither is not being able to sleep unless you do it. I'll say it again for your ignorant white trash ass.. YOU ARE AN ALCOHOLIC AND SHOULD SEEK HELP.

Edit: I'm not sure if you understand yet so I'll explain it another way. YOU ARE THE ALCOHOL EQUIVALENT OF A POT HEAD.

I drink about 3 - 4 beers a night and I wouldn't concider myself an alcoholic.

Neither does the guy who drinks a bottle of whiskey every night.

You are actually comparing 48 oz of beer to a bottle of whiskey? What a sad little world you must live in. Let me guess you're a morman?

The alcoholism has to start somewhere. Not only that, but it's not 48oz of beer. It's 48oz of beer, a vodka tonic, and a shot.

Yes, let's forget that alcoholism runs in families, and is, in part, genetic. Now it's my turn, go easy because it's the first time I've done this....

I'm sorry, you're post makes no sense.

Alcoholism is genetic?

If a disorder runs in families, that does not necessarily make it genetic. If you never had a drop of alcohol in your life, but all your family members are alcoholics, does that make you one as well? No.

It's runs in the family both because of observed behavior and a stronger genetic tendency. Jesus, Sharon, how do you not get that?

No it does not. You can't be an alcoholic unless you drink. An alcoholic by definition is one who drinks to feel "normal." If you don't have your evening beer(s), do you feel bad? If so, you may very well be an alcoholic.

Plenty of evidence in medical studies. Check out a book at your local library, I'm not going to do your bitch work and scour the internet for it.

I always thought of the definition of an alcoholic to be "that bum on the streets begging for change to drink, or the guy in the house who drinks and ruins his whole life...beating wife...etc"

I know I drink alot, but Im 21. I would think that most people my age drink just as much.....so it cant be as bad as some people are making it out to be.

Stop drinking. Lay off the hooch for a while and see if your sleep returns to normal. If not, go see a doctor.

Yea, I think this coming week, I'll go out and drink maybe once. We'll see what happens.
