This is my problem lately.....(drinking)

I'll have a few drinks everyday....usually 2-3 beers, a shot of something, maybe a vodka-tonic. Weekends I drink more.
Well, lately when Im ready to go to sleep, around 11pm during the week, Im still kind buzzed. But I wake up completely sober after a few hours and I cant fall back alseep. It's almost as if I can't sleep well unless I'm under some kind of "influence." Does this ever happen to anyone?

I sleep pretty good when I've got a good buzz going. But it's not really a matter of my sleeping better when I'm drinking. It's the drinking that's messing up my normal sleep.

I know, thats what I'm saying. Drunk sleep is the best. But I think now, if Im not drunk or a little buzzed, I can barely sleep at all. The worst is when I wake up from a drunk or buzzed sleep and I cant fall back asleep because i'm sober...(tonight)

I think that is a sign of alcoholism.

There is only one solution- stay up until 2AM, then get completely drunk out of your mind, stop just short of sick. Go to sleep immediately, and experience deep drunk sleep. Wake at7AM, hope it works out that you're sober after the few hours of sleep. Repeat.

drink a couple of drinks LESS.

alcohol interferes with your sleep patterns.

Yep, drinking does not make for a restfull sleep. I usually don't drink during the week and only a martini or two pn the weekends. Hangovers suck. I try to avoid those at all costs.

I really dont get hangovers anymore unless I drink an incredible-ridiculous amount.
It's my sleep that is bothering me now.

Using alcohol late in the evening, even as little as one to two drinks, causes fragmented sleep. Sleep that is fragmented and shallow and can cause a decrease in delta sleep (deep sleep needed to restore the body) and REM sleep (sleep that helps restore the mind). Meaning, alcohol may get you to sleep, but you won't be able to stay that way.

I hear ya. I've been wodnering whether I'm an alchoolic too.

I get blitzed, but do so once a week. Like now. yet I still can hold it. But its still not good for the next day. My head hurts SOOOOO much! 🙂

I've heard this before - what do vitamins do to help a hangover?

the solution seems obvious. when you wake up at 2am and cant sleep, man up and start throwing down shots.

Just start pounding brews and gulping down shots at 2 in the morn'. Get wasted every night!

I don't know if you're too dense to consider this possibility or think you are a big man and immune.. But YOU ARE AN ALCOHOLIC. Drinking 3 beers, a shot, and a vodka tonic every week day is not normal, and neither is not being able to sleep unless you do it. I'll say it again for your ignorant white trash ass.. YOU ARE AN ALCOHOLIC AND SHOULD SEEK HELP.

Edit: I'm not sure if you understand yet so I'll explain it another way. YOU ARE THE ALCOHOL EQUIVALENT OF A POT HEAD.

You've grown a dependence no booze, so you're an alcoholic. Not a raging, skipping-work, beating-child alcoholic, but you are one. I know several people who drink as you do. Their lives are still fine, together, they work, etc. but none of them like it, and I'd advise you to nip it in the bud ASAP.

I drink about 3 - 4 beers a night and I wouldn't concider myself an alcoholic.

Neither does the guy who drinks a bottle of whiskey every night.

I agree with those that say you are an alcoholic or at least you border on it right now and it'll only get worse. I also know what you mean about waking up "sober". WHen I drink I will wake up in the middle of the night after I am no longer drunk (sometimes 3am, sometimes 5am) but I can always get back to sleep b/c I'm tired at that point. I think you should stop drinking for 2 weeks straight and see if you sleep better. The first night or two will probably be rough though, but after that your body will be so tired it will have no choice but to sleep.

You are actually comparing 48 oz of beer to a bottle of whiskey? What a sad little world you must live in. Let me guess you're a morman?

I don't drink as much as you but I get the same thing. If I have been drinking a lot and go to bed I usually fall asleep right away. But if I wake up in the middle of the night, I'm screwed. It usually takes me another hour or so to fall back to sleep.

a few beers isnt a big deal

a bottle of whiskey a night sounds like my uncle, he fell on the ice last month "hey kim what happened?" -- "i was drunk on the ice and fell on my ass" 🙂

I would say cut back on your drinking, especially the late night drinking. Also, are you overly stressed at the moment? That can definately cause disturbed sleeping patterns. I've always found that stress led to increased drinking and lessened sleep.

I drink a couple of shots every day, in the mornings when most people are drinking coffee. An odd habit I picked up years ago. 😀 Other than that I rarely drink, and even on social occasions or out at night I only drink sparingly, if at all.
