I honestly think this is a excellent idea, but I don't know how much it will prevent drug use.

If people want to use drugs, they'll use it. No matter what kinda things they see its done to people, if you know what I mean.

I wish it was easier though. I just hope my kids don't need to go through this.

I feel very sad for their family, it must be very hard.

I have a lot of friends who use drugs, and they're all addicts, no life ahead of them. Just jail time maybe.

We try to tell them to stop, yet they don't ever listen. Hard headed never learn.

My high school girlfriend is a recovering smack addict. I was the one that had to tell her brother and her parents that she had a problem. It sucked. Heroin sucks. If those photos help one kid not start, then it's probably worth it.

BTW, the girlfriend was still using even after her husband died of an overdose.

And they say smoking is a bad habit.

people need to be educated about drugs, and understand the differences. this shock tactic is BS imho, it doesn't teach kids anything and rather hopes to scare them.

few people seem to understand the consequences of each and put all drugs in this category of pure evil without understanding it, as a result. i don't see this as a good thing. i see all these threads with people totally freaking out that a sibling or a friend or someone they know have tried marijuana, and regard it as pure evil, thinking they're going to die as a result. it's this mass hysteria and mis-education that gets to me. there's a distinct difference between marijuana and heroin, and when people regard the legalization of marijuana it is NOT the same as legalizing all drugs. one kills as this thread shows, one simply does not. i don't use any drugs myself but i have no problem with those who understand the drug and are willing to subject their bodies to it, much in the same way i'm not going to try and change someone else's eating habits or their faith in god.

i think people should be able to make their own decisions, do what they want with their life, and if they're going to jab needles into themselves then way to go Darwin. the more you suppress a child about something the more curious and more they want to experiment with it. the best way is to make them understand what makes each drug so unique and why each can really f*** with your system, not showing them dead bodies.

i just find it interesting how people totally freak out about marijuana, assuming it's going to completely destroy their lives. i personally don't see it any different than any other substance, alcohol, tabacco- both of which i'd be willing to bet have a higher fatality rate than smoking the j. get educated about it, not frightened.

that's just my 2 cents though, and i'm sure my money has no value to some of the zealots out there.

OMG. :Q

Edit: Oh yes, and for the misinformed, alcohol and tobacco are also drugs. Hell, even caffeine is a drug, and it falls under the category of stimulant - more benign, perhaps, but a drug nontheless. One wonders why we're after all the high school kids with pot when just around the corner the adults are getting themselves toasted in a bar...

A few days ago I saw a video of a living russian soldier getting his head cut off with a knife, supposedly in the Soviet war in Afghanistan. It made me not ever want to see the video of Danny Pearl. It was the worst thing I've ever seen.

After that, pictures of stupid girls who OD don't seem so shocking.

<< what a good way to show them...

the school here used to show pictures of leukoplakia (mouth cancer) to the students, but the principal removed the pictures because they were too graphic...
>>

Back when I was in high school, my teacher actually got samples of human lungs with lung cancer... that kept me away from smoking for good... It's like a piece of rotten cheese stuck to some black, transparent tissues...

damn you beat me to it:p thats the grisliest most brutal thing i've ever seen. this pict of a dead girl isn't grisly at all, sad maybe but nothing compared to picts of a person blowing their brains out or hanging themselves badly. that soldier video...maybe more ppl should see it i guess, show the real horrors of war and violence.

Why do you associate with with drug addicts? Did you read the "my cousin was just murdered" thread? There are so many drug related disputes that results in people getting in shot and associating with them is probably not a good idea.

<< The pain of withdrawl and the needle track marks (a la Requiem For A Dream) >>

Harry's arm in Requiem was something extremely horrible & disgusting.. combined with these photos, at least I know I'll never ever ever touch heroin or similar hard drugs. Not that I would have without these images, I have brain, I know what the stuff does to you. But these images do make the decision a whole lot easier ;)

Damn that video is the sickest thing I've ever seen, my friend couldn't even watch it. He got so sick of his stomach when I turn on the sound he had to get out.

Yeah, there's been some uproar in the UK about them pics (as that's where she's from) The government are trying some shock tactics for a change instead of the usual don't do drugs line.

The world is a f****d up place sometimes!

<< well yeah it's graphic... but that's how any dead person would look after several days. You take someone who dies of a heart attack and snap a picture of them a few days after (without embalming) and that's what you'd see. I can see what they're trying to do, but that just looks like a dead girl to me. Could have been a brain aneurism, suicide, or toxic shock syndrome. Might be more effective to show what addicts look like while they're living. The pain of withdrawl and the needle track marks (a la Requiem For A Dream).
>>

Agreed! Let 'em go hang out with some of 'em for about 6 hours when they can't find any! That's scary enough! :Q
Don't ask~! ;)

why do you care who i associate with anyway? the ppl who im talking about are my really good friends. theyve helped me through a lot of problems, even though they're drug addcits. just because they do drugs, doesnt mean they'll end up doing a drive by and murdering someone. i said jail time because you dont know what they might do. maybe sell drugs to an undercover officer and get arrested? lol i dont care about what you do, so why should you care about who i associate with.

You do realize that there is a difference right? I haven't seen it, but from reading this thread, the video portrays a real death, a life, not some Hollywood stuff where the guy gets up after the director yells cut.

I can't believe that anyone here actually thinks and advocates that Heroin can be done responsibly and/or recreationally.:disgust:

Hell -> Handbasket.

Of course I do. I merely included my affinity for the Hellraiser series to give an example of what I consider "gore." That's all. I know all about "real death." Growing up in a drug-infested, inner-city slum you see it every day.

I think you probably don't want to see it. I once saw a couple of videos, one of a man in a conference room suddenly taking out a gun a blowing his head off in front of lots of people.

The second one was shot from the front of a moving car as a car in front speeds along and crosses an intersection without stopping, a truck destroys the car from the side.

Both videos, but especially the suicide one made me physically feel sick and put me off watching similar videos ever again.

There's the element of 'don't want to look but have too' , but trust me, if you're honest with yourself you'll be affected.

The first one you mention happened in a US Government building about 5 years ago. A group called Filter had a Platinum record they made about the incident called "Hey, man; nice shot." LOL. In the video, the guy is standing at the front of the room when he removes a large pistol from a manilla envelope. The crowd yells "no, don't do it!" But he does and what a mess it makes.

The second one (car vs. truck) is seen on every single Police Chase video. Stupid criminals deserved what they got. Smashed to bits.

Outside my main job, we have a railroad crossing. Someone gets nailed there about once a month. As long as there are no children involved, it doesn't bother me one bit.

graphic images of heroin addicts wont stop kids from doing drugs.

well, it may scare them into never doing it, but once a drug is tried and they like it (heres a thought: people like drugs becasue they make them feel good) and are using it every now and again recreationally you always think "that wont happen to me, im responsible with my drug use and i wont get addicted. similar to how other people are with alochol.

you think people that use drugs dont know the results of their actions?
but i find when it comes to drugs, especially doing them recreationally the concequences dont seem real, that person dead on the tv was an addict, that friend of a friend who died was stupid and did too much and mixed the wrong things together...

i dont know how to stop kids from doing drugs i really dont. i know that i was never interesting in drugs because i was always big on sports and school stuff when i was young and i was a happy kid and i could never quite grasp why people did drugs. then i tried drugs, not because of peer pressure but because i was curious as to why people would ruin their lives for a little pill or a bit of powder and i suddenly understood.

scare tatics can only go so far, they might scare some people away from trying drugs but it wont stop recreational users from doing them. something more has to be done. education is the key here im just not sure what to tell kids.

*kat. <-- agrees that that girl simply looks dead... gross yes, but im sure if she died anyother way, shed look the same.

Was that real? I remember seeing that a few years ago, I thought it was much older than 5 years old. Also, did that happen live on TV?
