Why, you're absolutely right! On your way there, make sure to give away money you need to get by; if you can, give it to people who need it due to their own foolish choices in life and not circumstance.Originally posted by: iwearnosox

Screw that. If I'm a drug company I should be able to charge WHATEVER THE HELL I WANT, even if its a cure for cancer, AIDS or whatever.
thats a very reasoned and intelligent response.
it's shocking the level of intelligence we can find in ATOT.
oh btw, even the truest of Free Market Economists believes that Monopoly situations are harmful to the overall economy, so, a company should NOT "be able to charge WHATEVER THE HELL" they want.

Thanks for setting me straight, I was under the impression that the vast majority of cases were due to sharing needles and having unprotected sex - silly me!

You don't really believe that....Originally posted by: Schadenfroh
look at this from the drug makers point of view,
AIDS is a big money maker
that is why their will never be a cure, its better to make the infected people live longer with treatments so they can buy more drugs *expensive drugs* every day for the rest of their lives, rather than a single expensive cure that only has to be conducted once.
If someone were to develope a cure on their own, i would imagine that they would kill him if they could before it got out.

free what? drugs or market? I know it sux but I have to go with free market. As was pointed out earlier, if the pharma companies wanted they could cure most of this but where's the money in that? We're not going to pass laws forcing them to cure things and while I feel bad for people if you can't afford it don't buy it, just like everything else. 🙁

I'm really torn on this. I definitely agree with both of you, actually.
Should he government force Nintendo give away gamecubes, or sell them for cost, or for $20? No, that sounds silly, how can they do that, right? Well, maybe videogames increase my enjoyment of life, how can a company put a price on that?
I realize that the extent and magnitude is wide varying here. However, where do you draw the line? It's very gray indeed.
