It's a symptom of a larger problem. You're probably dealing with kids that don't know how to interact with others on a professional basis. They're lazy, and only think of their own wants. Nobody's under obligation to buy after an inquiry, but they should at least write back to say they aren't interested if they change their mind. That just professional courtesy. As far as bumping a thread goes... It's nice to do, but not required. Inquiries that contain useful, non-sensitive information should be made in the open forum, and you'll then get the bump. Otherwise, I think it's the OP's job to maintain the thread.

QFT...perhaps FST is a bit beyond you....this isn't walmart, and not everyone is really active on the forums...for some answering PM's once a week here is pushing it, other respond within seconds.
Getting a bump is always nice...if you require it then don't reply to PM's without one. I don't care either way and IMHO making a buyer bump a thread is stupid anyway as AT allows self bumps.
A PM doesn't secure anything though. If they say can you give me a day or two to get paid, then it's on me if they bail...normally I don't hold anything. First Paypal gets it.

Meh. I find two people selling something, one is asking $20, the other is asking $15 but their post is older and might not be available. I pm them both, asking the first if he would take $15. The second one gets back to me quicker and I buy from them.
I did not wrong the person asking $20 by asking if they would take less and buying from someone else. I did not commit.

I imagine, since there is no secret confederation of sellers who band together and swap deals as a loosely coordinated quasi-criminal federation(RICO) that you probably just had a run of the mill plane jane string of bad luck.

I'm not going to say I haven't done that, but I try to send a PM immediately if I find something else.
My recent problem is shipping. People can't ship worth a shit. Just finished 3 deals with high ranking Heatware users and all three were horribly packaged. But I'll leave them positive evals, because the item arrived and still worked.

But I digress, back to your weak, self involved topic.
If I PM someone to make an offer, I am then not going to bump the thread and send it back to the top for others to see and by doing so, maybe bump myself out of a deal.
I will bump the thread after I complete a deal with the seller if he has more items for sale in it. If the seller responds properly and in a timely manner I may also bump the thread if I don't buy. Depends on the seller mostly. I am not likely to bump a thread for someone I wouldn't vouch for. It has happened but it's not the norm.

I see your point, however, you are focusing on a very minor point of my rant.
However, you brought up a good point. Do you believe that responding as I did in my example above and in 15 minutes does not qualify as responding "properly and in a timely manner"?
