A piece of white trash stole something that did not belong to her. If someone will go as far as stealing the steak you're about it eat, I wonder what else she'd steal?

I agree with the police. People need to learn to respect other people's property. She did not buy the steak, she had no right touching it. She's a piece of garbage that society should dispose of.

Its wrong I agree, but it shouldnt be a felony

Because theft without force or violence, and valued at only a few dollars, are normally misdemeanors.

It depends on the amount stolen and many other factors. Secondly, she wasn't charged with theft of property. She was charged with receiving stolen property and already had another warrant for the same thing.

And a steak is valued at more than a few dollars? Enough for a felony? And where on that page are you reading she had other warrants.

She called and told me. How do I know she had other warrants? It is called Google moron. Search for her name and other articles appeared. I never said ANYTHING about the value of the steak. I just stated a fact. Stop trying to pick a fight with me about random crap. It is a FACT that theft has different degrees and classifications.

Typical white trash, suitable for populating prisons and Jerry Springer shows.

"The son, Joe Glessman, 24, is in a state prison. He has served one year of a four-year sentence for burglary in Calaveras County, Villegas said. Joe Glessman and Blackledge were living together elsewhere, and after he went to prison, Blackledge moved in with his father."

I think she did a lot more than steal some meat.

Before anyone is idiotic enough to believe that the story in the first post tells the whole story, read tnitsuj's link.... It seems like maybe she stole a steak; someone made the police follow the trail for the steak... and the police discover an apartment filled with many other stolen items (which the first article fails to mention, because if they did, it wouldn't be an unusual story.)

The felony charge wasn't for the stolen steak, it was for the other things she was caught with.
These alleged "news" sites are so sensationalist, they'll do anything to make a non-story seem dramatic.

LOL boy you're sensitive. How am i starting a fight? I already stated that theft WITHOUT FORCE OR VIOLENCE, AND VALUED AT ONLY A FEW DOLLARS, are normally misdemeanors.

And i was referring to the smokinggun link... nowhere on that page did it mentioned any other theft, just that she was charged a felony for the meat.

Why would anyone take a story from that site at face value???

Why it shouldn't? Felony used to have the definition that a person has been harmed. Yes, a lot of other defintions but the premise is that it is a very serious and heinous act of crime. By making everything a Felony the Legal system has dumbed itself down to a poker game.

Usually felonies are if force or violence was involved, or if the item is valued more than $2k.

Even if you don't care about the effects on her, which you don't seem to, what about the cost to you, as a taxpayer, for housing such "criminals" for 2, 3, even 5 years?

Why did you feel the need to put the word criminal in quotes? It seems as if you do not believe that stealing someone's property is a crime.

Because I don't feel that this case warrants calling the police, much less putting the woman in jail. Was it wrong? Yes. Was it stupid? Yes. Was it deserving of legal action? No. Something like this doesn't make someone a criminal in the spirit of the word, in my opinion, which is just that.

I don't think that this is a victimless crime. When you steal someone's property, you are taking away what they earned.

Now if someone decides to smoke pot or have unconventional sex, to me that's a victimless crime since they are not harming or taking away from anyone else. People like that shouldn't be sitting in jail, but people who steal should be.

Hidden under the bathroom sink? LOL, what was she going to use it for, cleaning the tub?

EDIT: didn't see that link. Who knows, maybe she was charged with a felony after committing a certain number of misdemeanors
