THIS is a felony?

LOL damn... who would steal a steak? and who would call the police because their steak was stolen? Then what kind of police force would actually take this serious and pursue it. THEN she somehow left a train of steak juice so that the police could follow? LOL
 
I'm not sure whats more disturbing, the meat juice trail, the fact that somebody call the cops for a stolen steak, or that the thief put it in a cabinet below her sink.
Weird.
 
If you've ever been in contact with the law for anything serious you would know that police departments routinely trump up the charges to the most extreme levels they can in an attempt to get people to plea out to a lesser offense and save the DA and the court's time.

At the most that girl is looking at probation.

 
"Authorities said they followed a trail of meat juice to a woman suspected of stealing steak from a neighbor's barbecue.

Calaveras County, California authorities arrested Lindsey Blackledge for allegedly stealing the steak off the outdoor grill when her neighbor wasn't looking.

The call to Calaveras County Sheriff's Department came at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday from a woman who said she only turned away from the grill briefly to find her meal gone.

Authorities didn't have to bring in the blood hounds to solve the case of the missing meat.

"It had been stolen and a trail of meat juice was followed up to the next door apartment," said sheriff's deputy Blain Smith.

The deputies found the partially cooked meat on a bathroom counter in the apartment occupied by Blackledge.

Blackledge was arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property and having an outstanding warrant for allegedly stealing stolen property in an unrelated case.

She was being held in Calaveras County jail on $25,000.

The steak never made it back to the grill.

"I doubt if it was returned and I don't think they booked it in evidence," Smith said."

Why shouldn't it be a felony?

A piece of white trash stole something that did not belong to her. If someone will go as far as stealing the steak you're about it eat, I wonder what else she'd steal?

I agree with the police. People need to learn to respect other people's property. She did not buy the steak, she had no right touching it. She's a piece of garbage that society should dispose of.

Because theft without force or violence, and valued at only a few dollars, are normally misdemeanors.
 
Technically it was possession of stolen goods and she also had an unrelated warrant. She wasn't the brighest of people that is for sure. I don't think a felony in this situation is beneficial to society.

No kidding. The amount of time from theft to discovery of it, then to calling the cops, then to the statement and searching, you would figure she would have ate it.

It depends on the amount stolen and many other factors. Secondly, she wasn't charged with theft of property. She was charged with receiving stolen property and already had another warrant for the same thing.

Exactly. Once a thief, always a thief. Some people like to make it sound like you have an innocent person who mistakenly steals something... yeah right. Most likely they'll steal all kinds of stuff and they'll do it often. People like that detract from society by taking away from those who work for their belongings.

I stand behind my words- she's a piece of white trash that deserves to be disposed of.
