Well.... I'm all for the Death Penalty....

I'm a daughter of the proud state that just recently retired

Old Sparky

:)

But I still vote more like an Independent than anything else.

Maybe I should reregister to Independent, but I'll never just vote all the way for one party line.

Im for the death penalty too actually, and generally Im more conservative, its a shame the mother died, but it was the intent of the crime, it could be different in Florida, but it was like that in CA

Hey, we all know about California :disgust:

And there's no way I'll be voting for the same presidential candidate that they do!

Hey on the plus side, I just heard a story that if CA were to separate from the US, wed be the 6th largest economic power in the world. I wonder what the top 5 are (besides the US)

I'd be chuckling and saying "DEATH TO THE DEMS" if this weren't so tragic. I really do want to see criminals get what's coming to them. They are being coddled etc. because of ACLU intervention. Prison overcrowding is just so inhumane you know? :|

Hey I got a new monitor!!
Geez you guys I said I agreed. Problem I had was people calling for a lynching, you know what ususally preceeds common sense? They used to kill people for stealing a horse or burn people as witches for nothing. JM got my point right on, the punishment is supposed to fit the crime. Now if they have accidental manslaughter and it can stick of course he should get the max for the consequences of his actions.
A drunk in Yakkos case is different, he KNOWS he is endangering the life of others by driving a dealy weapon and has made the choice and knows the consequences of his actions could be lethal. Its not an apples to apples comparison.
I live in Canada and I'm pretty sure we don't have an "accidental manslaughter charge" I'll phone my lawyer buddy and see what would apply. But like in Yakkos case last yr a guy here got involved in a high speed chase with police and was totally drunk. Managed to kill at 6 AM a high school principal and his wife orphaning their two kids. I believe he got 3yrs. This is where our moral outrage should be directed, I just feel there are much better reasons to get upset thats all. Tradgic very but no more so than my cousin.
I watched a show on TLC the other night about Oklahoma bombing which till then didn't seem very real to me. It focussed on what the emergency response was and how it had effected those involved. McVey is still alive? These are the types of things that make the bigger picture.

I'm talking to my lawyer as I'm typing this and he says this is not a case of murder, regardless of where it occurred. Probably nothing more than petit larceny unless she had a lot of money in her purse, in which case it could be murder under the felony murder rule. Which means if you kill someone in the course of committing a felony you are guilty of murder. <thanks, Buzz>

I'm opposed to the death penalty and abortion. Kill not.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with having his **** cut off... if I'm correct about what those pesky asterisks mask. ;) And I can't say that he deserves a murder or manslaughter charge either, since it wasn't his intent to kill the poor woman. Why not chop off his hand?

Just what I talking about. I'm curious when chess said if she had a lot of money then it would become a felony ? and when that happens its considered worthy of murder? What differnce does it make if it was 20 or 2000? Just goes to show you there is something wrong where you can go to jail for a long time for stealing money but something like rape a crime of violence might get you probation.
There is a big inadequacy in the legal sytem, money outweighs human suffering.
