I still remember when the highest poster had 20,000 posts. The top 3 posters were NFS4, yakko and DannyLove.

Oh man I feel old (not @olds old though), it's all downhill from here right?

Even an attention whore (myself) cannot bring this place back to life, it's dead, been dead and will continue to wither away.

You know what this means, TFP, Mosh, CasioTech and Alky are all needed. Maybe we'll get a buy 4 get 2 free (MacBaine and Pliablemoose come to mind). What say you Mods?

TFP was a mod who still posts here. Everyone knows this.

CasioTech is probably in jail for stalking the Superman guy (wonder if he turned fully gay for the one in the newer movies?).

Mosh, I think she prefers being a digital dominatrix for some of the more pathetic ones that followed her out the door after they got caught looking in the mods super secret bathroom or whatever that was.

Alky probably is working as a Turmp impersonator in live sex shows where he's cucked by a short balding guy with a bad Russian accent and then pissed on by some women from Russia.

Some note that the technical forums have slowed down. The computer enthusiast is on the decline as well. I just bought a new computer in many years and just found out that overclocking isn't that benificial with modern CPUs. I remember when the Celeron 300a was able to hit 450Mhz on air. Those were the days where massive gains could be made.

Anandtech just doesn't have that niche forum appeal like it used to. Now that you can find a forum devoted to practically every topic in existence on Facebook or Reddit, a separate forum mostly devoted to hardware tinkering just isn't all that exciting to new users anymore.

I tend to disagree. Toms is operated identically to this site and remains full of windows tech activity. Why do almost no windows issues from nubbies post here ? One difference I notice is the preponderance of intel based opinions on Toms cpu/overclocking forum. Here we are stuck with the opposite, many questions about intel technology in that forum are met by " why not try AMD " ? Almost like a bias.
Could such a thing keep posters away generally.

Bulletin board (whatever it's called) style forums like Anandtech & many others are dying. This is an era of 90s/00s. It's not about Anandtech in particular in my opinion.

People love reddit-style vote up/down social media. Also other styles like Quora, Stackoverflow, Git, etc have largely taken over most of Q&As.

If there weren't 5 thousand different forums on this site they would probably feel a lot more active. Just look at the list of all the different forums there are, how could they possibly need all of those?

I am not sure if the style is dying, or what, but I just went over to Tom's clicked on Latest, and EVERYTHING on the first page is tech. Over here, it's mostly P&N. I signed up over there and posted today. What's causing it? Well, I think I already stated that, but I doubt anyone still here agrees. Hmm.

Let's put some flash into this forum cats. Crazy flashy ads might do the trick. Maybe we can get mic/ video support where we can all talk to each other? I'd like to see who I'm talking too!

You dudes agree?

I personally hate the "downvote anything I disagree with" mentality of Reddit, since you just end up with a bunch of people together in a group that all think the same way.

That said, if I ask a question there I'll probably get a dozen answers to it within an hour. Here? Not so much anymore.

Yeah, that routinely happens here. It's like we are not a tech forums anymore. I think their needs to be a different algorithm for the "What's new" quick link.

I'd recommend they nuke the forum from orbit with everyone in it. It's the only way to be sure.

Having a thread titled "THIS FORUM IS DEAD" floating around on the first page or two in OT isn't exactly inviting. Noobs see that and back away. Doesn't anyone think about public image?

(sorry for the bump. I'll go back to following my advice and let this thread lay.)

I thought it was still pretty good up to 2014. Now, not as much - but it's not dead yet.
