This election is tainted, and...

...it's time to nullify it. In Florida at least. I'm not kidding either. In any other world "democracy", and I use the term loosely, that's what would happen. Oh, I can hear the uproar already; "That would shake the very foundations upon which America, the world's greatest democracy, is based!"

Mmm, I disagree. If anything, it'll shore up our foundation, which is rapidly crumbling. And lest anyone be mistaken, the United States isn't a true democracy; it's a Republic. There is a difference.

I'm not trying to stir the pot. Just suggesting an alternative.

It is becoming more tainted by the day. Interesting that Broward county, at about 40% of the way through their manual recount, decided to change the criteria from "hanging" chad to "dimpled" chad. I guess they weren't finding enough new votes for their boy, Al Jr.

Nullifying the Florida vote is not the answer, though. I still think that, after all is said and done, justice will prevail and the democrats will be forced to cease their games.

It stinks to high hell. No doubt about it. I have seen a lot of optimism by the republicans, and a lot of pessimism by democrats. Everyone seems to think GWB is going to win this thing. I wish I could be so sure. And believe me. SINCERELY, if Gore had won, and GWB was stirring all this sh!t, and pulling all these stunts, threatening things, playing dirty, I would be for Gore taking it all. Suing your way into the White House is possibly one of the MOST DANGEROUS PRECEDENTS we could ever possibly set.

Nullify the election in FL? Interesting. Hadn't thought of that one. Of course, noone would be able to get the required number of electoral votes. It's not an option. --And considering GWB was won that state about 4 or 5 times consistently already, I think it would be the wrong decision.

EVERY RECOUNT is fashioned more and more toward making more votes count for Gore and less count for Bush. It's time to stop the damn games.

Red,

Gore has lost, someone needs to tell him this. Gore will recount until he gets a win.
He is trying to loosen the ballot counting procedures in the hopes of getting more votes. This is not right. If you think it is right, you are on some might good crack.

Actually it was 32 democrats, 3 republicans and 1 independent, or something like that, not all of them were democrats, but most were.

Clearly this is a conspiracy by the republican law and order machine to selectively remove democrats from the voting population by imprisoning that half the country. They are stealing the election.

Czar,, we don't live in Iceland! A national election takes Months, maybe even a year to put together. You can't just be like,, Ooops, our bad, can we get a do over? Voting again could mean not having a winner until July! The new Pres has to be in place in January. And don't even say let Clinton stay in office till then,, HELL NAW!

The votes would be certified if they would allow the Sec. Of State to do her job, but instead we keep involving the courts. I'll be glad when the thing is over. I wanted Bush to win, but right now I don't care who gets it as long as it stops this recounting crap.

The election will NOT be over until all the votes that are to be legally counted, are counted.

And NOT until all the Democrat and Republican court challenges are completed.

Until those two things happen, there is NOT a winner. (as if there will be a "winner" anyway)

This election sure is tainted, and regardless of the outcome I think a substantial percentage of the American population will feel cheated. I do not envy the victor one bit, and I predict that whomever wins will serve one undistinguished term and be soundly thrashed in 2004, especially given the predictable logjams in the most balanced Senate in decades.

I beg to differ. I think the president will be just as effective despite this fiasco. Americans will dwell for a few months, then everyone will just chill and forget. We'll only hear of this again in 2004.

Just heard that about 1500 military people on boats, that their votes are not going to be counted. How would you feel if you were serving your country, and then not allowed to vote. Sure puts a whole new meaning to the phrase:

Your Vote Counts!

Not only does it not count, but it can be manipulated to whatever the recounter wants.

Interestingly, Joe Lieberman is making an appeal to have the overseas military ballots counted even though they do not comply with the letter of the law. See this article. Admittedly this is probably not much more than a last-minute PR move, though.

He is but the Gore campaign is NOT. The say there is no legal reason to even consider them to be added.

I am neither democrat/republican, but if the Gore campaign succeeds in invalidating the bulk of the overseas military ballots I think that will be a new low. It is just the type of thing that would get me to vote for any NON-democrat in the next presidential race. That is just LOW.

It's Republican and Democratic couties that are following FLORIDA LAW.

Did you hear Lieberman on TV yesteday? He asked that the counties take a second look at the rejections, if they could.

I heard it. That doesn't change the fact that the Democratic Party said there was no reason for them to consider counting them. It doesn't matter that he says, they will not even consider it but they will have us determine the voters "intent" when it comes to the ballots.

I find it interesting that in a county that went 3/2 in Bore's favor they have so far found 108 new votes for Albert and 7 for Bush, which is a ratio of something like 9/1. Not even a Mafia Accountant could explain that away from a statistical standpoint.

Tee_Edwards,

In Lieberman's case it may not be PR. I think he honestly believes what he says. I also believe that the crooks running Bore's campaign have left him out of the loop because they fear his integrity. I feel sorry for him: For all time he will now be associated with this garbage.
