This drives me nuts. Why do asian people )))STARE(((?!

Do they actually STARE at you, or just make eye contact for a few seconds? When I walk down the streets, I look people in the eyes all the time, but don't stare. I'm Asian, so maybe that only makes your point stronger. The big thing I notice is Asians who are strangers make eye contact with each other often in Ohio, just because there aren't many here. I guess it's more like a "look, there's one of us" type of thing. I don't mind when people do that to me.

As for people looking pissed, it seems to me that some Koreans and Japanese have a normal facial expression that makes them look mad...stern is a better word. Try acknowledging people next time with a slight nod or smile to see how they react.

Not so sure about that Mindstorm although I can certainly see that in some cases where it might be the 'one of us' stare. I consider eye contact for more than 3 seconds a stare. Hell, 2 whole seconds is long enough. If you think about it, 3 seconds is a very long time if you're just passing by someone. Also I'm not going to ask someone if they're pissed at me either.

I brush my teeth often enough to be considered of norm.

Moral is, learn from the past and not be so hateful. That's all.

while i agree with that sentiment, it contradicts what you said right before about being ignorant about the war and not wanting to bother reading/learning about it. how are you suppose to learn from the past?

Maybe it's my large afro.

I think some of the ATOTers want to see a pix of your girlfriend. maybe that will answer some questions as to why you think they are staring at you...

"16-25 year old Korean dudes "

I'm gonna say that ANY 16-25 year old dudes, especially if they are hanging together, will stare. At the girl b/c she is a girl, and the guy b/c it's competition over the girl.
Also any 16-88 year old dude who thinks of women as meat will stare stare stare, doesn't matter what culture.

The point is, they're staring with or without the girl so it's definitely not the girl!

Pics. Tell me if I warrant a stare or not. Don't worry about the third picture. I don't go out in public like that.

now

maybe it's cuz u look like you are gonna kill someone

Don't know, but I know for a fact a lot of Mexican guys like to blantantly stare at women.

i will attest to that(not me personally, but i've seen it, for that matter, i'm not even mexican)

some cultures may find it disrespectful to not make eye contact....

asian girls usually stare at other asian girls because they want to check out what you're wearing and how you carry yourself.

one of my sisters would get those stares because she dresses well. girls who have met her have said that she's hot heh.

as for you, maybe you've got a bulge in your pants?

While this thread seems to focused on Asians, Ive noticed that Mexicans/Hispanics/Etc have the same problem but it started long before I was born and will continue long after Im gone.

Most of the time I let it roll off and act like I dont notice. But recently I couldnt understand why this guy in particular had this glassy eyed gaze. So I asked him what his problem was and he just apologized. I thought he wanted to fight. :|
