Ah, what would we do without religion?

I seriously hate people like that. The church group talked about America being hypocritical...they need to look at themselves they are a CHURCH group who are praising the death of these people. If it were one of my family members who died in that mine and they pickited the funeral I would be going to jail that day and I have never been in a fight in my life.

Wow.. all the people arguing that they aren't Christians. If I belonged to a religion I'd definately want to belong to one that said "they aren't xxxx" about its unwholesome members! Or hell, why don't we just make criminals "not Americans". That would be a damn good way of reducing the crime rate among Americans to zero.

Like it or not, Islamic terrorists ARE Muslims, these people are Christians, etc, etc. Not only that, but they are acting in the name of their religions. You can reprimand them and say that they are not good Christians or Muslims, but you can't act like they aren't members of your religion, especially since their ideology COMES FROM religion.

Anyone care to explain why one poster said that calling them Christians is equivalent to saying that all Muslims are terrorists? Do I need to draw a venn diagram?

I hereby declare myself a Hollywood actor. I've never acted in any movies. I've never acted like an actor, but I say I am one.

Does that make me an actor?

I've read a few of your posts and come to expect a bit more than this, at least on this subject. You've already made this baseless argument and had a counterpoint brought up, only to make it again.

Because it's exceeding simple, which usually makes for the best argument. A person does not become a Christian simply by claiming to be Christian; same as a person does not become a firefighter (or insert any other profession) simply by claiming to be one.

Sadly, most people that lash out at religious extremists tend to be just as ignorant as the extremist.

They are members of a baptist church. Most Americans would consider them christians. Just because you don't like the practices of SOME Christians, doesn't make them any less Christian.

I agree they are Christians. They are doing exactly what the bible says for them to do. The same is true of muslim terrorist, they are muslims and are doing what the koran ask of them.

hmm, my Bible's New Testament (the part that is the basis for Christianity) talks about turning the other cheek when you are attacked, showing mercy to your enemy, and loving your brother as you love yourself.

Can one you experts on what makes a Christian please send me a copy of your Bible so I can read whatever I've been missing out on?

I read through the side comments for the first three books of Matthew. I was reminded of people that say, "I don't get it..." after watching the Matrix trilogy. The people that wrote that clearly don't "get it" and hence why the write many apparent contradictions that aren't there for people that are able to understand. I don't think there is anything I can say that will help you in this or open your mind to see your own hatred.

Not reading this thread(way to long to spend on this), but these "people" came to our little town to protest the funeral of 2 of our national guardsman who were killed in iraq. We had 10x's the protesters protesting them and showing support for the families who's funeral had become a way to get attention. Amazinly none of the local newspapers or TV stations showed them at all so they didn't get any media coverage like they wanted... unlike here it seems. For once i was very proud of our media.

The proper way to deal with these people is ignore them and their ignorance. The way most of us would like to deal with them would save most people from having to ignore them in the future.

Idaho is a very tolerance place, actually. I've seen more mixed marriages here than most places, between Latinos and white, and black and white. Most of the black college students here date or married to the white or the Asian students. Blacks were welcome to the universities here while they were being booed and and thrown rocks at in Alabama in the the 50s and 60s.

What does 50 years ago have to do with the fact that Idaho is a CURRENT hotbed for the White Supremacy movement?

The South is more integrated than Idaho for sure. I take it you've never been to Birmingham, Orlando, New Orleans, Atlanta, Jackson, or Dallas have you? Interracial marriages as well as desegregated societies are not even an issue in 99% of the South. Only old race-baiters like you who want to bash an area for the attitude of a minority 50-60 years ago...

Idaho:

White persons, percent, 2000 (a) 91.0%
Black or African American persons, percent, 2000 (a) 0.4%
American Indian and Alaska Native persons, percent, 2000 (a) 1.4%
Asian persons, percent, 2000 (a) 0.9%
Persons of Hispanic or Latino origin, percent, 2000 (b) 7.9%

Wow, 91% White. You've got less than 60k Black people in your entire state.

Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Texas, etc are much more diverse and integrated than Idaho. Try again, troll.

QFT. I am sick of people bashing the south when it concerns racial issues.

I have to agree. I just read a good deal about it, and the only things which weren't blatantly biased/short-sighted/taken out of context were in refence to Mormon and Jehovah's Witness beliefs. The author tends to interpret verses and phrases without looking at the context they're in.

Well said.

They are atheist, they don't have some hidden agenda to be bias about.

No agenda? That's why they created a website, right?

EVERYONE has an agenda.

If they didn't have an agenda, they wouldn't have made this website. They could be secularist fundamentalists for all we know.

If you believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, you are a Christian. By definition.

Anyway, grouping these people with mainstream Christians is no more rational than grouping Osama Bin Laden with mainstream Muslims. They are despicable human beings, and their leader an obvious psycopath, but the sanctity of the First Amendment should never be challenged. However, the first time that these assholes trespass, or threaten violence, or dodge their taxes, or whatever, send the whole lot to Leavenworth for a very, very long time for all I care.
