She is literally a failed life form, though we will not accept that and continue to use every resource in our power to "cure" her. Though we have a few million healthy babies with no parents and no resources to live.

Asshole - check
Hypocrite - check

Would it have been better just let nature take it course and let her die? I mean, do you put someone through a life of horror and misery, or let nature do its thing? Let's be realistic here: she will NEVER, NEVER look like even the fugliest girl in her class. No guy will marry her or date her. She can't talk or communicate so what kind of job will she have? She will be in a lot of physical and emotional pain the rest of her life. Her parents are stressed beyond belief and financially pushed to the limit.

When I get married and have kids, I most definately could not deal with that.

Google Treacher Collins Syndrome for more stories like this...

Really really sad. I hope her future classmates are understanding...at least a few of them, kids are cruel. I have a friend who recently delivered a baby with Noonan syndrome--she can't eat and breathe on her own, though the facial disfigurement is practically nonexistant compared to this little girl.

Same here. As much as I am against abortion, I couldn't let that kid be born. Life would be all but pain and misery.

I have real respect for the parents and relatives to still love the girl. Still, no parent should ever have to go through this.

Contrary to what most of us see, there really are some decent people in this world that would befriend her and her face wouldnt matter to them. She could basically have the same career as any deaf person that uses sign language as their primary form to communicate. She could live a relatively normal life.

That being said, I probably wouldn't wish the fate of this child on my worst enemy. Such a horrible thing to happen to such an innocent child. I honestly dont know if I would be able to do as the parents have done in this situation.

Hey,
each one of us went thru middle and highschool. Personally I wouldn't wanna put anyone thru that experience in her condition.

Neither would I, but there are alternatives. For example, home schooling, and having her meet friends with similar disabilities. I'm not saying it would be easy by any means, but it is possible.

That made me tear up. The poor girl! I certainly hope that after some more surgeries she can at least eat using her mouth. :( The good news is that Christmas is next week....that's always a happy time for children...At least she'll get to enjoy that. :)

I got disturbed once I saw the first pictures of the baby in the hospital and had to shut down the video.

Does the girl have a nose and eyes?

Hopefully something can be done to fix her face in the future.

I don't think any of us have any right to say who deserves a chance at life and who doesn't, just because it will be hard for them. Everyone deserves a chance, everyone has something to contribute, no matter how small.

Yeah, I know. That's why I said nature. By putting breathing tubes & wires, stomach food injections, etc., you are artifically prolonging one's life.

This is one of the most ridiculous comments I've ever read. Most people with treacher collins syndrome grow up normal mentally. Yes, her face looks severely deformed... but that does not make her a "failed life form".

Also, if you are worried about your insurance rates going up, you should be more concerned with insurance fraud... not people who actually need the help.

It's really sad and horrible. I could not honestly witness that as it happened, I would have to leave.

Though I'm going to take a different angle on this, and many of you are going to hate me for it.

Euthenasia would have been better!

Who the F>U>C>K> are you people?

This is one of the luckiest little girls in the world to have the parents and family she has.
Maybe insted of pity, she should have your compassion. This is one of the biggest forums out there.
Don't you think some of that almighty ATOT power I've seen some of you bragging about in other threads could do some good here?
Perhaps this would be a good family to adopt for Christmas!!!!!!!!
We as human beings make conscious choices. I feel badly for the children without parents as much as the next guy, but society chooses to turn a blind eye to many things that go on rather than admit things are as they are and do something about them.Therebye, we as citizens are equally responsible for the irresponsible , immature, and disasterous actions of our citizenry. This is a chance to help people who didn't make a choice, but still need help just the same. I AM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS!!!!!!!!! Count me in!

It's incorrect to say she was born without a face. She does have a face, it's just horribly disfigured.

At one point of my life I would have clicked that link with no problem... After a few minutes I decided to.. How sad, poor little girl but thank God her family is full of love and compassion for that little girl. I hope that one day people can look past her defect, but sadly that will probably never happen.
