I was an iPhone4 user. Tried out a Nokia 920 for a little short of a month. Couldn't deal with the battery life, lack of apps, the terrible browser, and the disappointing camera. Returned it for a Note 2. Not really missing anything about the Lumia with the exception of the voice integration of texting while using hands free in a car. That's a fantastic feature. Plus the OS is more snappy and simple. It's just easy to use.

Either are a nice change from iOS, but if you are a heavy app user then Android will keep you happier. It's a more comparable OS in terms of use and developer support.

If you want something fresh, go research BB10s.

All demos of it that I have seen make Android and iOS look old. BB10 really looks like the next step in smartphones.

Been waiting for it to replace my beat up Android phone.

Ordered the red Lumia 920 at the AT&T store, will be next week before I have a chance to pick it up.

You'll love it. I'm amazed by the lack of widespread usage of this phone. Everyone I show I to falls in love.

Been using the Nokia Lumia 920 for a little over two weeks now. I am very happy with it. I have nit minded the added weight at all. The bigger screen is a welcome addition and WP8 is fresh and clean.

I use both Lumia 920 and Note 2. They're both awesome, though I tend to pull out Lumia 920 a little more just because I love the UI on it.

My experiences.

Phones I have owned

iPhone 3G, iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s, Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S3.

iOS - its like butter baby. You simply cannot beat "it just works". Apps feel polished. Screen size has been a real downer. Specs are typically behind the market. Impressed with the "solid" feel, like they put time in the design, quality parts.

Android - jelly bean/ICS was finicky for me, lagging text, some apps did not work right (bank app and another news app were far superior in iOS as they never crashed), hated touch sensitive buttons as it always seemed like I was texting something important only to hit back or settings , plastic parts feel cheap to me, great size screens with SAMOLED, customization.

That said I realize my tastes are not the same as everyone elses. This is my experience and the exact reason why I'm going back to an iPhone. Specifically iPhone 5. I will probably never own another Android device. The door is still open but theres a ways to go IMO.

My first smartphone was the iPhone 3G. Transitioned to an iPhone 4 two years later and then the iPhone 5 this past fall.

I think the iPhone 5 is terrific. But I'm really unsatisfied with the iPhone for the first time since using the 3G. I thought the jump to a 4" screen would make a huge difference but it doesn't. The portrait experience leaves a lot to be desired for me.

I scoffed at the original Note after demoing it. After demoing the Note II some months back, the only reason I didn't walk out of the store with it was the amoled screen. Personally it doesn't work for me.

But I've given this a lot of thought as to what I truly want in a new smartphone. I've just about decided that I'm ready to try a phablet. I'll keep my iPhone 5 for a while just in case it doesn't work out with the larger device. But I feel ready for it.

I think I know what I want in a phablet too. IPS is a must. LTE would be ideal but I think I could deal with HSPA+ if necessary. I've also given capacitive buttons a lot of thought and I think I'd like to avoid them if possible and get a phablet with on-screen buttons. Since using the third gen iPod back in the day, I've never enjoyed capacitive buttons. I think I'd keep touching them accidentally. Plus I think I would really want free space on the bottom bezel to rest a thumb and the like without thinking about it.

A ton of phablets are coming to the market this year. The Note II really woke up the industry. I've even contemplated the Ascend Mate but a 6.1" device might just be too much phone. (It's basically just as wide as the Note II but definitely taller.)

As for the iPhone, I'm very confident they'll release a 5" model at some point. Maybe even as early as this fall. The market will be filled with 5" smartphones this year. Even though a 5" iPhone would make me happier I think I want an even bigger change. A phablet is such a different experience compared to anything 4"-5". Some people are calling phablets a fad but I think they are definitely here to stay.

Personally I think the Note II is just ridiculous. YMMV, but I don't see a 5" iPhone any time soon.

I am in the same boat here.

Got iPhone4 at release, and then iPhone5 at release. Just getting tired of iOS now.

Tried the Lumia 920 for a week before I returned it. Loved the UI but app store is terrible. Also, pdf reader on it sucked (has it been fixed yet?). No VPN support but it should be coming. Web browsing was smooth but rendering had some defects.

Currently, I am trying the Nexus 4. Love it, tons of apps, and great screen. Lack of LTE but AT&T 3G/4G is still plenty fast.

I still find myself going back to iPhone5 as one-hand use is so much more comfortable on iPhone as compared to Nexus 4 (or similar sized phones).

Still deciding between the two. Might even give the Lumia 920 a second try once VPN is supported and pdf reader is fixed.

PDF viewer has been updated twice in the last 2 weeks.

If your sick of the same ol' experience, why not wait for a BB10. They are rumored to be 3 weeks away from US launch.

Try one out in store. They might be locked in demo mode but if you ask, I can figure out how to unlock demo mode for you (I've read it is easy to do).

Worse, case you don't get it. Best case, you give a new (potentially better) experience a shot.

I am still a big fan of iPhone 5 ... Note 2 might be better but as for the moment I'll love to stay with my iPhone 5. Anyways, the decision lies with you. Whatever makes you happy, go :)
