I've only played the first Devil May Cry on my PS2 back in the day and loved it. After just recently seeing a trailer for DMC4 i have to say i'm very interested.

Also, i'm debating between picking up a Sony Sixaxis or Xbox360 controller? Which is better or preffered?

:)

I played it on the pS3, enjoyed it. Lots of hack and slash.

For the PC, get the xbox 360 controller instead as it's directly supported by GFW Games (Games for Windows).

The game is pretty awesome, definitely recommended with a 360 controller. Can't believe people prefer God of War to the Devil May Cry series.

However, get a 3rd party one if you can or something, the d-pad is absolutely HORRIBLE (it's practically unusable) on the 360 controller and later on the game when you play Dante and have to switch styles on the fly with the d-pad, it's just hell, I'd combo switching styles but it's just way too inaccurate so I just switch styles when I have more space and time.

Just something to consider.

You could always use the PS3 controller. Even if it's not supported by GFW, I do believe it still works.

God of War ownz and Kratos doesn't need to yell "Blast Off!" (DMC3...so much hate for Capcom) when he flips a baddie into the air.

DMC may be cheesy but the combat system and the difficulty level are leaps and bound above God of War.

I played DMC3 for 50 hours God of War only for 15, I completed everything there was to GoW, I'm still missing a couple of levels in DMD in DMC3.

God of War would be good if they weren't insanely easy, short and had the worst story in the history of games, the combat system is good and the control is top-notch but I just feel it needs more difficulty, being able to block anytime you want makes it so you don't even need to know what timing is, you don't need to explore combos, enemies die pretty fast and simple button mashing kills them anyways, boss are the exceptions, those are pretty cool but still better in DMC.

Of course all the above is my opinion, so don't go about flaming me like I just insulted your child :)

The original DMC on PS2 was so amazing. I'm definitely going to go and get DMC4, but it'll be amazing because it'll be on PC and will have my new 4870 behind it.

Games for Windows games are definitely required to work with the XBOX 360 game pad with no button remapping (for GOW, it was the same as the XBOX 360 game).

Does anybody know if the PC version of the DMC4 supports button remapping on the gamepad? I'm quite sure the PS3 buttons won't be mapped to the same buttons as the XBOX 360 controller - DMC4 for the PC is most likely a port from the 360 version, in fact - it's a GFW game (Games for Windows branded).

You are right that the 360 controller cues are transferred from the 360 version but DMC4 also features an extensive tool to configure any gamepad. I'm considering switching to a DualShock 2 for the parts with Dante, seriously, the d-pad is unusable.

What's a good 3rd party XBOX 360 controller that has a good D-PAD? (would probably be great when Capcom releases Street Fighter 4 next year for the PC).

a little off topic, but I find the analog stick to be great for fighting games like street fighter. it's really just a miniaturized version of those big arcade joysticks, with less distance needed to travel from end to end.

I haven't tried it myself but MadCatz seems to have a pretty nice d-pad design, I'm thinking of picking up a MicroCON (I like the size of the DualShock a lot and the MicroCON is supposedly the same size) myself and they are not too expensive.

Check it out

Just picked up DMC4 and Im enjoying it. Bought Logitech Rumblepad 2 wireless to play without issue (except the joypad is heavy).

Oh btw, I finally know why Antec 900 is a gaming case, you can put joypad on the top compartment and it fits perfectly! I mean the shape of it is really made for joypads!

The game itself is very challenging, those secret missions are difficult. I have spent 2 hours on it and the gameplay and cut scene movies are all great.

FYI: To qualify for the Games for Windows tag, a game doesn't have to have gamepad support...but if it does have gamepad support, then it has to work with the xbox360 controller out of the box.

Found out this annoying fact when I bought Stranglehold planning to play it on the hdtv with wireless controller.

This game supports quad core cpu? Saw the splash screen showing C2Q logo and the claim of performs good by quad core?

It doesn't need a quad core :p, the game is hardly CPU intensive, it taxes your video card the most.

I'm already on Mission 12 in Son of Sparda mode, Legendary Dark Knight mode is amazing, coupled with Turbo mode, it's something consoles gamers are really missing out on (I never thought I'd enjoy a DMC game more on a PC than a console :p).

While not as hard as Devil May Cry 3, it's still not slouch in the difficulty department. The bosses are all pretty great with the exception of Berial (it's a bit annoying to fight him with Nero in harder difficulty levels, BTW Berial is the fire horse with lion face demon in the second level, the first boss).

The Dante portion of the game seems like an afterthought but his fighting style is just as developed (if not more) as Nero's, the problem is he goes through the same levels as Nero and fights the same bosses (which are pretty easy since they were designed for Nero not Dante).

Definitely recommend for any PC gamer, even if you have a console, the PC version is the one to get, extra content, better graphics and constant framerate, controller flexibility and gameplay enhancements.

FYI, I'm playing with an original dual shock controller and the buttons map just fine. Yes you can map them any way you'd like.

I'm playing through it with a C2D E6750@3.2GHz, 4GB DDR2-800, and an 8600GTS and it runs very smoothly.
I also use the XBOX360 controller, and while the D-pad does suck, I don't find it to be that much of a problem.

wtf is wrong with you people, use a DualShock 3/Sixaxis with it. Demo played like a dream with it on PC. Wish I had a better video card, though.

I know it doesnt need a quad core, I just asked if it supports quad core to make me happier since I have a c2q

BTW when I was running around the Grand Hall in mission 5 or 6, up stairs, there was a very little bit of lag, dunno y, mine is a q9450, gtx260, vista 64, 8b ram. It happened while the character running from west to east or vice versa, never happened while running vertically (or north to south or vice versa)
