I've driven them but never hard or on a track obviously, they are friends and family vehicles.

But then you're an old fart so I still have plenty of time. :p

There's something to be said for age and experience. You'll figure that out eventually. :p

Jeremy Clarkson is 6'6 and 50, and he can get in and out of an Elise.
He doesn't look comfortable in one, BUT, that's not the point.

Get one ASAP! Looks like so fvcking awesome to drive...
I'm about 10 years behind you, but pretty much agree 100% with your opinions on the car. It's fantastic!

Rental Mustangs are V6 and completely meh compared to the V8 powered cars. I've owned two V8 Mustangs and test driven a couple of Cobras and late model GT's. I had a friend who owned a modded Corvette and he let me take it for a spin a few times, I've also test driven a few late model Vettes on top of that. My Father-In-Law owned a Porsche 911 and he let me drive it a few times. I owned a WRX-STi for a brief period and I have another friend who let me drive an E36 M3 and an E46 M3. Oh, I've also driven a BMW M Roadster. I've tested a couple 350Zs and a '06 Pontiac GTO as well. Plus, I spent 4 days with a 2005 Lotus Elise at my disposal and put about 300 miles on it during that time. So, I've DRIVEN these cars, not just ridden in them.

I've driven so many foreign and domestic family sedans (rentals, friends and family owned cars, etc) over the years that I couldn't even name them all...nor are any of them really worth mentioning in the company of the cars I mentioned above.

You do know that the V6's in today's Mustangs have higher output than the 70's V8 302 Boss Mustangs has, right?

Anything fun to drive is going to be uncomfortable to drive in some way, so don't let that stop you :)

Actually the V6 in the Mustang up until the latest refresh was a real POS. Only the 2011 finally saw Ford put in a competitive V6.

That's the 2011 model. I haven't driven one of those yet so I can't really comment on it but the earlier models were not nearly as fast as the GT models with the V8. I also haven't driven any of the 70s Mustangs. ;)

I think the GT models have better brakes and suspension as well...they certainly have better rubber.

By the way, I just ordered Yokohama Avid Envigor W-rated UHP All Seasons. They were much cheaper than Michelins.

/Waits for someone to come troll MJiZZ a little more in this thread

Actually, Exige is just a hardtop Elise (with whatever other minor changes they make).

Me driving an Exige on a track. Fucking owned.

Failing to understand what a Hardtop is fucking owned. Now get the fuck out because you clearly do not deserve to be driving an Exige, let alone anything being an illiterate failure in life. Wait, aren't you a Lawyer as well?

The brand new 2011 V6, sure. The 2010 and older V6 is a weaksauce 210 hp. A pre-2011 Mustang V6 may as well be a RWD Taurus. Perfect for rentals though.

That POS V6 was as powerful or more than competing V6s of the time (Toyota 1MZ < 200 hp, etc). Engines like the 2GR and VQ35 are relatively new as well. You act like everyone else had 400 hp v6s in 1999.

I see your point. Ford just kept the old V6 around for too long. It was fine for its time, but that time ended around 2005.

Oh well, the new V6 more than makes up for it.

Sure he CAN get in and out of one but he can't make it look graceful. ;)

Interesting seeing Clarkson in one. I've checked a few out that I've seen around and they look like they'd be a blast to drive, if you could actually fit in one. Surprisingly Clarkson didn't look that cramped once he was inside. Before I would of never even attempted to get in one being 6'6", but after seeing that I'd take up the chance.

I've also seen a couple of Nobles around the area, which is about the same size as the Lotus, maybe a few hundred pounds more, and 400+ hp.

Noble is what I want. I've seen most exotics. Never seen Noble in person.

Noble is the baddest car ~$100k IMO.

I don't think he's ever going to realize how much of an idiot he makes himself look every time he posts facts that he's read out of magazines and on the internet. Maybe if we ignore him, he'll go away.

He's saying that you're fucking owned because he has actual experience driving the vehicle where you have absolutely nothing other than what you've read about it. It's pretty obvious that it's not the same car. The Exige has more HP than the Elise and has a significantly higher price point.

Yes, I've seen them pop up for sale around here. They go for a little more than the Elise but not much. The S version seems to be more popular though for obvious reasons. I found it interesting that Lotus released an S version of the Elise actually...don't see too many of them though. Not yet anyway.
