thinking of buying a futon, anything i should know?

I have a futon. It is extremely comfy as a couch and a bed. The only time its uncomfortable is when its in the couch position and you try sleeping on it like that. If its in the full laying down position, it is perfectly fine. Every guest who has slept in it has said it is really comfy.

well, not planning on doing teh sexz0r any time soon....ive opted to wait for marriage....besides, my moms room is next door and we have thin walls :Q

I don't enjoy sleeping on something that has has everyones butt stank on it. I prefer a normal bed.

That being said, I got a sofa bed. Even though the mattress is flimsy, at least I don't have everyone who comes over leaving their essence on my pillow.

I've been living on my bi-fold futon for 10 years. First I had a double foam core mattress which lasted a few years. It was pretty comfortable as a bed for the first two years, but later became a pancake. About 4 years ago I bought a futon mattress with springs. It's not meant to be folded into a couch too often (in fact, I don't think I've done it more than 10 times), but it's pretty comfortable as a bed.

If you get a wood frame, make sure the wood is something solid which will last.

Yeh, they will never, ever come anywhere close to being remotely as comfortable to sleep on as a normal bed.

I don't know about that, i've slept on a Futon for the last 6 years or so, and i love it. And i find it's much better for sex (can do more position... and no squeaking of the mattress either).

I'm also a fan of futons as a bed but not a couch. Usually the couch feature has too long of a sitting area, making it uncomfortable on the back or knees.

Just get one with inner springs and you should be set.
I had a very nice futon in my dorm last year. I got compliments on it all the time.
The only problem is if you lay down on it, chances are you aren't getting up soon. .

Dont cheap out.

Mine cost $600 from an import store that specilized in futons, and it was worth every penny.
