VW Audi recalls 530,000 cars.

more than just one data point huh triumph. :)

I'm completely aware of this problem, and I understand the implications of it. In fact, bad press is good because it leads to better service and better quality products. But the coil packs have nothing to do with leaking oil, and you missed the point of my post anyway.

*edit* wow, what a constructive post, optoman.

Not only Triumph knows jack about cars, he can't read as well. I never stated that car leaked oil; it's burning oil. I will inquire at my son's first grade class, they may have an empty desk for you.

heh, that's never stopped a number of you VW whores to bash honda cause someone's mom's civic broke.

I never have, or if I have it would only be in order to point out the fact that not all cars are 100% problem free.

am not sure what makes you "fairly knowledgeable", but unlike me, you obviously havn't done any research. I have NEVER stated that I do have a premise for a class-action suit, I am only EXPLORING the possibilty. If the vehicle is under warranty yet the company refuses or is unable to rememdy the problem to customers satisfaction, then perhaps I will be able to prove you wrong.

I'm knowledgeable about VW's because I own one, I do my own maintenance on it, my immediate family has owned many (and still owns many), and I hang out at VWVortex more than I hang out here. Coil packs, MAF's, O2 sensors, and window regulators are problems that OFTEN come up in discussion over there, but I can't remember hearing about burning oil. It's the same situation as here: you become knowledgeable about computer hardware by discussing it in places like General Hardware.

actually i understood your point. but your argument is not better, just because you had good experiences doesn't prove anything either.

I was posting my good experience in jest, because I'm smart enough to know that my experience is statistically insignificant. I would never say to someone, "All VW's are reliable because mine have been reliable." By that same token, I would never say "All VW's suck because I have 1 friend whose VW sucks." There is a difference.

A simple mistake on my part, I apologize for my momentary mental lapse.
