Guys, read the Op again, is it feasible for
A college student to buy a new car ?

It's feasible, but do you really want to take on debt of car when you're in school? I'm not sure of your complete situation but make sure to look at the complete costs of the car before you buy it. This includes the total cost of buying it, financing it, insuring it, keeping it on the road (not everything is covered by warranty), etc. You may be in the situation to cover all that but just make sure you know everything before you make your decision.

this is what im pondering...i mean, sure i can cover it...financing it right now is cheaper....2.9 APR ?!?!! for a honda ?

my car is older, but it has random stuff come out of no where which takes money and A LOT of time...so its even more confusing.

Personally I wouldn't be trying to finance a new car while still paying for school (even though you have a stable job). I think you'd be better off with a slightly used vehicle.

Since you're set on Hondas, how are the prices for 1-2 generation old Civics and Accords?

im going to community college right now, and dads sorta paying for it, and im paying for books lol

for the latest gen accords, the coupe has projectors while the sedan has reflectors.

this may influence your purchase if you wanted to put in some HIDS. the projectors will have less glare and produce a better cutoff line.

they are horrible in value, and reliability sucks as well. I have NEVER owned a american car, and never will until something crazy happens.
the Hondas are a EXTREMELY great value for what you get, and for the price.
the accord LX is the best equipped car in its class...fusion ? no.

wow, you know what you are talking about ... not

Now, I got Accord 2009 two months ago... and let me tell you... my 2003 FORD WAS MORE RELIABLE. at 60,000 miles all I had to fix was one $20 resistor

The auto transmissions on Honda sucks big time, and I have no faith over it in long run. With 2k miles, brakes are making noise, transmission jerks when shifting, car sometimes cannot start at first try. From reading other problems, it seems that rear brakes are usually replaced at about 10-20k miles.

The Japanese quality is just a perception. Latest industry study puts Honda at 10th place. Two Ford brands (Lincoln, Mercury) and two GM (Buick, Cadillac) are better rated than Honda - see for yourself.

It might been better in 1990s when Japanese had motivation to be on top, but now that they are on top, they have same mass production issues that plagued big3 in last 20 yrs.

I would not be buying a new car if I were you, in college and working part time.
I would be looking for something used, maybe a Mazda Protege 5 for sporty practicality, or even a Ford Focus if price is right.

I've seen some in the ditch lately. Everything that is old has chances to get there. IS that best you could come with? I have myself "Japanese" car build in USA. I am just telling you to open the horizons, the grass is not greener on this side. But if you have perception that Ford makes trash, nothing will change it. It won't hurt to check out 2010 Fusion, although Accord is safer long term choice.

OP obviously you are set on buying Honda so why ask around when you know you want an Accord. I can give you some insight as I also looked at an SI and an Accord. Too me when I compared the two I just could not get past the fact that I could get some much more car for very little more in the Accord. I also could actually save some since I was not looking at the latest gen accord since I feel it looks much worse then the previous in my opinion.

However after spending much time searching I will probably end up getting a Fusion. In the last weeks I have probably test drove the Fusion, Accord, and Camry about 3 or 4 times each and can honestly say that the driving experience was best in the Fusion. Since I am buying used the loss of value associated with buying a new fusion is not an issue.

I understand you dont like Ford and I have never been a fan really myself but check through various magazine reviews like I have been and see for yourself. Accord and Camry have both been slipping in reliability as of late and I dont feel like paying $8000 more for nicer interior quality.

camry has especially been dropping, i have not heard any issues with the Accord, only with the V6 Accord AT transmissions. I am getting a brand new accord 19k out the door. I have friends that work PT with me, driving around 28k mini coopers.

I mean, i make about $900 a month....and if my payments for a new car are around $250...then i think i would get the accord ASAP.

i actually have only driven a V6 EX 08 Accord, But will test drive a LX soon.
