I dont personally like the HHR or The MAXX. Both are ugly to me. The regular malibu is ok though. You tried a Mazda 3 hatch or non hatch they are nice cars 🙂

I was looking at a Malibu couple months ago, around a year 2001 or so but checked Consumer Reports and almost all aspects of the car were rated below average. Hope things have improved since then but make sure you do your homework.

If you're thinking Malibu, you owe it to yourself to look at the Saturn Aura. It's built on the same chassis the '08 Malibu will be on. This car is not like Saturns of old. There is no cheap feeling to it, the interior is top notch and the car is very quiet. It won car of the year and I feel it deserves it.

We lease, and the difference in the residual value between the Malibu and Aura amounts to $100 less per month. My wife and I are both very impressed with this car. She's the one that drives it daily. There is no Maxx version in the Aura however.
