Thinking about building a bunker

I am seriously considering it. My hometown. Which is a major Australian city is actually closer to Jakarta than any Australian capital city.

Indonesia is the home of 260 million Muslims. Just waiting to arrive on Australian shores and rape our white women. You know they are.

Then we have over a billion Chinese Communists just waiting to build military bases in the Pacific and no shit they are. What is an Australian to do? Except go with the Chinese Communist flow.

They are our biggest trading partner by far. Which seems counter intuitive. Can the US save us?

Unfortunately I see Australia pivoting towards Asia and China and I don't think we re alone. Even though we are attempting to counter Chinese influence in the Pacific. Where is the US under trump? Who knows?

I remember the days under Obama. Who understood that the TPP was critical to US influence in the Asia Pacific. Unfortunately dickhead doesn't see it that way. Perhaps if someone explained it to trump using bright colours and small words it would all become clear.

Nothing will become clear to Trump, never kid yourself that he's going to unravel his personality conundrum.

As an Australian you probably know the movie On the Beach. You are being facetious about building a bunker? I hope so. Don't be paranoid. An ostrich only gets a mouth full of sand for it's stupidity.

Ooh.. You could give every Trump supporter citizenship and tell them to come to Australia with their guns. You'd get all the *security* you need from them and their pal Russia.

On a more serious note, Australian natural resources are numerous. Wars generally start over resources like oil. If you just sell them at reasonable prices.. there is no reason why China would invade.

If anything China needs, it is to feed its people which is why agricultural countries which produce a lot of food have more to fear than you do.

As for Indonesia.. they are nowhere a threat to you militarily. And from working and living in Singapore.. they are nowhere as radically religious like say Pakistanis or Bangladeshis who kill whoever doesn't conform to strict religion.

Some Indonesians just want a better way of life without the strict religion which is why they immigrate elsewhere. I met quite a few in Singapore. If anything Australians are more dangerous to Indonesians than the other way around. Just look at this:

Australian Chef Brutally Murdered Indonesian Wife

So.. Just relax. A bunker isn't a bad idea but most likely you won't be needing it.

Who knows?
I think it doesn't matter what the answer is. I think you worry that everything you believe in, all that you hold sacred will be lost. I believe we hold on to our sacred cows because we have placed our value of us as people in our fidelity to them, but that they are actually just programs we were made to believe in. I lost everything I used to have faith in, gave up to endless suffering, and found that none of that had anything to do with reasons to love myself. I am a nobody and that is good enough. You may be close to Jakarta but all your life you have only ever been a heart beat away from death. The past is over and the future is yet to come. Notice there is only one time you ever can be in and it is the now. Take a look around, minus your thoughts of the past and the future, it may actually be a rather nice day, just like the day you were born before you learned to worry.

The Indonesians generally practice a milder form of Islam. Except in Aceh and Java has had it's problems with groups like Jemaah Islamiyah. They blew up some nightclubs in Bali and killed a few hundred people*. I don't think my post was actually serious though. I watched a segment from who is america? About building a mosque and my mind just went towards Muslims and needing a bunker.

I also wouldn't mind an arsenal of shotguns.

*Which was a while ago now. It was one of the first epic Islamic extremist terrorist attacks.

Pretty much everything I post on this forum is facetious.

A fun fact is 88 Australians died as result of the JI attack and the anti-terrorist police unit that the Indonesians formed to hunt down the perpetrators.

Was called detachment 88. I assume we funded and trained them. I would also assume the US was involved.

No need for bunker, just move into the coal mine.

Are you talking about the Adani coalmine? I doubt that will happen but you never know. The sticking point seems to be who is funding the shipping of the coal to the sea. Unfortunately often commerce beats common sense.

There should be plenty of room for every aussie, maybe even all the roos. But definitely keep the feral camels out :awe:

You don't need a bunker, but it's nice to have nomadic camping skills. If the SHTF, I know how to survive and I don't need to pack much. I'm not too skilled on how to handle nuclear fallout, however. ;)

Don't worry. If the ocean temps go up 5C we'll all suffocate. Bring lots of O2 and helium, the latter so you can laugh yourself to death.

I heard about the Polish recommended methodology. You throw a white sheet over yourself and crawl to the cemetary.

1. Join the national guard to get some basic mili training
2. Become a hunter
3. Learn to navigate the sea
4. Use your savings to buy some high ground at key spots aroud the world, you can always build later if need arises
5. Have a 2 wheel or if family size demands it 4 wheel offroaders ready to go with lots of fresh petrol and a plan of how to get to a boat.
Etc.
Bunker? No thanks :).

I bet more Australians die to bargirl scams in Singapore, Bali, Phuket, Bangkok and Manilla combined than terrorism.

OK buddy. I actually worked with an Indonesian developer. He was a fresh grad and when he started he would break out the prayer rug and do his 5 prayers a day or whatever it is. After about a week he stopped. I assumed when he was at uni he was hanging with other Muslims so felt he had to do his prayer routine. Whereas we didn't care if he did or didn't.

We also found out his partner was a man. You don't get either of those options in Aceh because they live under sharia law.

Do I care? Not particularly but then I don't feel threatened by such things.

A bunker won't do you any good against your new Chinese overlords. I'm sure they have their own penetrator bombs.

I just cannot imagine the Chinese wanting to bust my bunker.

I have bunker-building fantasies that are more general in terms of threat-avoidance.

If you wanted to live out in the woods in Shasta County, I'm thinking that an underground home would be safer if you could assure a filtered source of air, or some supplemental tanks of it.

I hope this becomes a trend in the US. I'll make serious bank building luxury bunkers.

I saw a show on Netflix about doomsday preppers and one guy was a property developer who built an apartment building under ground. Crazy.
