the first time I overclocked I did it with my asus geforce 4200 ti it also had no artifacts for a while until I left the pc on while defragging windows then went to the market ,I came back an hour later and I got artifacts every where.I tried everything but to no avail.

So what I'm trying to say is if you must overclock becareful when overclocking make sure you have all the cooling necesarry and don't ever overclock to high right away add only 5 incriments at a time ,otherwise don't overclock at all if your pc's running fine,it's like taking a risk of throwing your hard earn money down the tube .
That's why I don't overclock anymore .

I know the risks and have been overclocking for years and have never lost anything well now I might have and thats what I am trying to figure out. I didn't notice coolbits kept the memory overclocked in 2d untill later so this very well maybe my fault and I may just go ahead and eat it.

Like I said though it booted up fine earlier today without artifacts untill I rebooted it again. I think I had it on about 15mins before I did the reboot with no problems. I am still hoping for it being the power supply.

Sounds like a bad memory chip on the card. OC can not damage your card, at least not with that little oc you did. company oc their chips all the time to figuer out how long they will last and they really overclock (like running 5V through 1.5V part)

you got a bad card. return/exchange just get rid of it

Eh... the problem isnt that its a bad card.. the problem is youre saying screw the company gimme a card. And youre doing it in a way thats ripping the company off. They dont make the prices... NV does. So if i were you.. go about it the honest way... tell the company it fried on you in 2D mode... didnt touch a bit of gaming.. and maybe it'll go a long ways (you never know.. they could be outta stock and give you an ultra!! :D)

Rollo.. your first post was too funny man, and wolfs response was "Thanks for the advice rollo!" lol

Holy crap! This may be the first time I pointed out that OCing/burning/returning the card isn't ethical may have actually had some effect! Usually I get,"Screwz you Rollo! I buy lots of overpriced computer parts, so dem companies owe me big time! I'll keep burning dem up till I got one that will OC as well as Stinky Pete's over on da 3dMark page!"

Good for you dude. If someone else sees your example of being an honest man, and does the same, and someone sees their example, you'll have made a small difference that is part of a greater good.
Even if it has no effect whatsoever on the prices of video cards to the consumer, increased profits to retailers and manufacturers is a good thing because they employ people who have a higher profit margin to get raises out of, the companies pay taxes, etc..
