Think I have a hemorrhoid

Sorry for any "nasty" details, but I need to see if this is actually likely a hemorrhoid.

Two days ago I had diarrhea, but nothing too bad. I did notice it burned/felt pretty sore (more so than normal). But, immodium took care of most of it. The next day, I use the restroom and notice it hurt to wipe. I figured it was still hurting/sore from the diarrhea. However, upon further checking, I noticed a lump right at the edge of my anus. It hurts if I touch it/push pressure on it. It's not unbearable, though. However, I don't notice it any other time, really.

Is it likely a hemorrhoid? If so, based on what I've read, it seems like it may be a mild one (since the pain is only noticeable when touched, and isn't unbearable). Will it go away on it's own? Are there any treatments I can do without having to see a doctor? Etc etc.

They suck, I got them after my bout with food poisoning. They can go away on their own just make sure not to irritate it.

Alright, that's good. How long does it usually take?

It depends on if you irritate it again and how your diet is. I had some trouble with them, but started taking fiber and it cleared 'em right up.

SC is right, they show up from stress on the area. So diarrhea and constipation both cause them. Nice easy controlled defecating should help them clear up.

So, I suppose poking it all the time is a bad idea, huh? ;) I'll make a note to make sure I get some extra fiber in my system.

Well, eating more greens and such didn't actually give me enough fiber to help. I had to actually start taking a fiber supplement. I don't know why the other stuff didn't help. Also, don't push so hard. Be a bit more patient while you have the trouble and the fiber should clear everything up.

Fiber to keep this from happening. Keep the area clean. Use baby wipes during flare ups, they are gentler on the behind. When you shower, try to have lukewarm water sprayed gently at the area for a few minutes. Do this every time you shower. In the mean time a otc cortisone cream or preparation h can be used to deal with any discomfiture.

I actually just went out and bought some. I don't push hard, really, as it comes out easily enough as is.

I'll get some cream if it doesn't start getting better. It's still the same size, but doesn't hurt as much now.
