think apple is going to drop the mini?

first $250 for 4gb vs $300 for 15gb
now $250 for 4gb vs $300 for 20gb


I think apple would release an ipod for under $300 if it weren't for the fact that it would canabalize the mini. they're almost the same size. hopefully they'll finally give in and drop the mini in favor of a cheaper ipod

Not a chance, the Mini has been sold out almost everywhere for months and will continue to sell. Apple is making too much money off of it right now to stop.

I bought my gf a mini when it first came out (grey). I still don't think she'd want the 4th gen over the mini. The size factor overshadows the 16 gb advantage.

I don't understand why the iPod mini is "stupid"?

Smaller = more expensive, when it comes to computers and parts. Always has been. You can't tell me that you think Apple pays significantly less for the 4GB Microdrive in the mini than they do for the 15/20GB in the regular sized iPod. Keep in mind that the 15/20GB is several times larger...

The point is that the 3rd and 4th generation ipods are so small that the mini is a bad choice because you are paying a lot for a slightly smaller player with a lot less capacity. I agree that it is reasonable for Apple to charge more for a smaller device, but regular ipods are already smaller and more expensive than other non-apple players.

i agree here its not that much smaller that its gonna make a difference, and for almost the same price you can get 5x the storage thats seems like a no brainer, so they dont come in fruity colors, big deal

I think your seriously underestimating the appear of colors. As long as they decide to keep the iPod pure white, the mini will always have a market because, like most status symbols, looks are critical.

if they made a NON WHITE rnormal ipod i would buy one, my biggest issue with it is that its ugly and white, which is why i got a rio, if it were black like on that pic on the box, it woudl rule

a nd just make them all colored and ditch the mini

i personally HATE white things, white comp cases, white monitors, white shoes....... they are ugly IMO

the mini rocks. i mean it's credit card sized!!!!! the 20gb is such a better deal though
