For good food, you might want to try out Lolita on the west side. It's owned by some famous chef

some famous chef?

Michael Symon says no soup for you now!

If you're anywhere near Dayton, check out the Air Force Museum, best collection of planes in the world.

The Franklin Park Conservatory is cool if you are into horticulture. Good restaurants nearby are the Rusty Bucket. The Northstar cafe is a bit further, but even better food than the Rusty Bucket, which is mostly bar/pub food. I second the Katzingers recommendation. My sister lives a few blocks from there and they have excellent sandwiches. A bit pricy, but very good.

I haven't been to the new COSI by the river, but I have heard it is really nice. The riverwalk itself is kind of neat, but not at current temperatures.

Polaris shopping mall is just north of there, a few miles.

Head south on 23, just across 270 and there is a nice pizza place called Pies and Pints.
Great pizza and tons of good beer.

There is a Winking Lizard right close to your hotel. It's a decent place for food, but more known for the hundreds of beers.

Microcenter is easy to get to from your area. Get on 270 and go south on 315 a few miles. It is on Bethel Rd, right off the exit. Gallos Taproom is a good bar with good food. It is right next to Microcenter.

Thanks!

I plan to stay out of bars. Bars and I don't mix well. I am definitely hitting up MC...might end up in Canton one night if I can. Still want to try to hit up Akron too.

Well, if computers are your thing, there is another computer store right next to Microcenter. They sell used stuff. You might want to stop in there.

Also, there is a Woodcraft right up the street on Bethel Rd. If you are into wood working, it would be a good stop. They are the megastore of woodworking. They are known for their catalogs.

Do you like great steak?
Hyde Park, the location at 1615 Old Henderson Rd, Upper Arlington, OH (less than a mile from 23/270). This is their oldest Columbus location, doesn't have a chain restaurant feel, live jazz in the bar.

Akron/Canton are too far to drive if you have to be back in Columbus the next morning ready to work. NFL HoF is awesome though.

A lot of the cool stuff in Columbus is family stuff. Top ranked zoo, with a water park next door. COSI (Center Of Science & Industry) is a fun for kids.

What kinds of stuff do you like?

Can't speak for Columbus, but I just spent a day in the burbs of Cincinnati.

Serious question: is inbreeding common out there? It was as if I'd wandered onto the set of The Hills Have Eyes.

There really is no such place as Ohio...it's just something parents tell their children about to scare them into behaving!

I'm going to be staying right by 23&270.

Looks like there is a theater and a Ruth's Chris nearby.

This is about 10 minutes south of my place. I live right off 23 just up the road. The theater there is nice. They just renovated it with leather recliners. It doesn't tend to get very busy either, so you can usually watch a flick in relative peace.

If you hop on 270E you can loop around to Easton, which is a very nice mall complex. Tons of good food, including a Smith & W's (better steak than RC if you ask me). Going north, you'll find Perkins Observatory (about a 5 minute walk from my house).

The brewery and arena districts, as well as the "short north," are all downtown and great for a night out. Downtown Delaware isn't far from you either (about 15 minutes north of you), which has a real small town feel to it that I like. There's a restaurant there called 1808 which is a local favorite. American Bistro with a slight modern/hipster feel. They have a ton of micro brews available.

Oh yeah, and Hyde Park is in spitting distance if you're staying right at 270/23. A fine steakhouse, but $$$.

Yes. Cincinnati = Kentucky. You've been warned.

And you thought Ohio was bad....

A friend's house is in Akron. I've wanted to see it for a long time.

These morons cannot drive. I've been in town 2 hours and had 4 different semis try to take me out.

I now know for sure that no one lives in Ohio by choice. Pretty sure I have found purgatory

I tried to tell you.....
There's a Microcenter in Cbus too. Other than that and a few local hangouts, it's meh.

But if you think Ohio is that bad, you must not get out very much.

I agree. I am convinced Ohians are not taught that the left lane is for passing only.
