I may have to travel for a bit. I would be in the Cleveland area for a bit. What's good there?

I don't drink so I don't need bar recos. Restaurants? Any nerdy historical stuff?

I plan on making a trip to Canton for the NFL HOF and I might swing by the Rock and Roll HOF. I would probably also swing down to Akron for a few hours.

Anything else I should check out?

EDIT:
Getting shipped a bit further south. How about Columbus? Anything good there?

Other than reminisce about the days when Lebron was there, no.

They once set their river on fire. There must be a plaque somewhere to commemorate that historic event.

Your mission is to find that plaque, take a picture, and post it in this thread.

Restaurants:
Go to Greenhouse Tavern and order the pig's head. No, really.
Momocho is also very good, and not your typical mexican restaurant.
Melt has great sandwiches.

Other random stuff:
Go see a play - Playhouse Square is the largest performing arts district in the US outside of New York.
Good basketball for cheap - Cleveland State almost knocked off Kentucky over the weekend. Campus is right downtown next to Playhouse Square.

Is it still the mistake on the lake? Andrew Zimmern did an episode of Bizarre Foods America there, Lake Erie is a lot cleaner since most of the factories either have closed or moved to China.

The Cuyahoga River has been on fire multiple times. :colbert:

:D

So have a lot of other rivers in America around that time, Cuyahoga River was simply the one that occurred around the time of environmental concern for polluted rivers and acted as the catalyst for new laws to reduce pollution so it still gets a lot of focus.

For restaurants around Cleveland as mentioned Melt and Hot Sauce Williams are featured on food channels quite often. Michael Symon has restaurants around the Cleveland including Lola's, Lolita's, and B-Spot. I have never ate at Lolas or Lolitas myself but B Spot has some absolutely amazing burgers, the Fat Doug is my personal favorite.

For restaurants around Akron I would definitely recommend you check out the Diamond Deli, the Old Bald Guy is absolutely delicious. Mr. Zub's also has some very good food. If you are looking more for a dining experience there is Crave, Bricco, and Cilantro. The Lockview is also known for grilled cheeses (such as Melt, though in MUCH smaller portions) but part of the appeal to Lockview is their drink selection also.

I personally have little to no experience in the more expensive restaurants around Cleveland, so I can't help you if you are looking for something real fancy.

People who have to drink to have fun need to be in a program

Step 1 is to admit you have a problem

go ahead, we'll wait

actually step 1 is:

We admitted we were powerless over alcohol, that our lives had become unmanageable.

You don't have to admit that you have a problem. Just that you can't control how much or how often you drink. And not being in control has made your life worse.

Halle Berry is from Cleveland, so something good did come from there once.
