I didn't even come here for help or to goof off, merely out of curiousity to see what my then-boyfriend was doing. And here I've wound up with a couple of unexpected best friends (some "7\/\/33d" from Ohio and some nobody, to be more specific). Whether I stick around AT or not, I've made several lasting connections, and those two are just the strongest of the bunch.

Have you guys gotten anything unexpected out of your involvement with this site? Things you wouldn't have expected to encounter on the internet, of all places? Things you can't quite explain to your family and real life friends so that they understand? :)

No, I just got sucked into an "interesting" place, and have gotten some good deals in FS/FT.

Well... perhaps. I have had the pleasure of somewhat getting to know (not personally - but in a way related to the given subject) some people in the OS forum and software/programming/whatever forum.

It made me realize exactly why adults used to get mad at me for trying to argue with them when I was 16. It's one of those things where you just don't truly understand until you get there.

But there is hope, I've met some young people who are much easier to get along with than I was at that age.

Hm... you are right. I left atot a long time ago (like winter 2001/2002), came back this winter, I think I should depart again. It honestly is a time-stealer, and the last thing I need is to spend even more time with computers vs. people, I'm a weirdo hermit as it is :-/

I like the forums related to technical support, operating systems, and general hardware. That was where I got a lot of good information and I also try to help people out if I can. However I spend the majority of my time reading OT. I live in an area where there is never anything going on and it is nice to come here and read what others are doing, or what is happening in their lives/world events. I find it keeps my mind engaged and I learn things along the way. It has been a pretty good experience.

I've learned a lot of random things here. I've received and given the occasional bit of help. I've used FS/FT to get and give some good deals on hardware, software, and video games. I've saved a bundle on various deals thanks to the Ferengi in the HD forum. While I haven't made any "best friends", I've had the chance to interact with several really cool and interesting people. I've been exposed to some very interesting view points, and some of these have helped change my outlook on life and politics (scary, I know). AT also keeps me up to date on breaking news. I had no idea that anything had happened on 9/11 until I checked the forums before going in for class. Mainly though, it has been great for some laughs.

nope, i just get annoyed at a bunch of people in hot deals and fs/t and in OT. thus, that is why i have my 3.18 user rating.
