Went to the pet shop today with the kids to browse around. Lo and behold what do I find? The pet shop is selling baby alligators!

Now you know whats gonna happen. Some damned maroon is gonna buy one when its 6 inches and when it gets to 3 feet hes gonna realize hes got more gator then home. Then hes gonna take it down to the local pond and let it go.

Jeez. I do admit, they *are* cool. Then again, their 6 inches. But what in the hell would you do with a 6 - 12 foot gator once hes full grown?? 😕
 
You have two kids and have not yet mastered their/there/they're. Specop, I agree baby 'gators are awesome, but come on!

alligators only grow to the size of whatever pool/pond/lake they're in. or maybe that's an old wives tale.

anyway, some people down the street had a small alligator in a terrarium when i was growing up.

One of my best friends in college had a couple alligators. We had leashes for them and used to walk them all over the place.

One of them, before he gave it away, was about 3' long... Most of the time I was just scared to death of it.

They're okay... the most fun I always had was just turning them upside down and watching them fall asleep
 
They're not baby alligators. They are selling caiman. They don't get near the size of an alligator however they do grow large enough to become unwelcome guests in most homes.

Whether or not they should sell them as pets - well I won't discuss these kinds of things. 😉
