How long would it take for it to die without food/fresh air? Even though it's just sitting on a window, those things scare the shit out of me.

Probably several days. Why not just smack it with a flyswatter and be done with it?

A long time. Might as well pack up and move out.

On a serious note, they are very easy to kill/get rid of. They aren't out to get you, even though I feel that they are sometimes. They are usually just minding their own business and living. Anyways, don't be afraid to either whack it with something or capture it in a jar and let it go outside.

Also, like six said, hairspray works well. Usually just enough to make them all sticky is fine, then just let them outside

olds has several in his. Their names are Biff, Buffy, Spencer, and Reginald. He takes a specially constructed fly swatter to them, as well. He says it makes them more compliant.

kinky.

OP you should eally put out some sugar water for it. The thought of it starving to death sounds horrible.

Of course the risk is that you go down there when it is desperate, and dying. They're not in the best of moods then.

Less of a risk to deal with it sooner rather than later.

A good thing to do is swat it against somewhere that is highly visible and DO NOT clean it up. Let it sit there as a warning to future wasps. From my experience, any bug species that sees its own kind obliterated against the wall will not go near your house again.

Throughout my house I have probably 25 different bug species either stomped on the ground or the wall.

That's what worries me. I have no idea how it got in in the first place.

Some WASP's still have chauffeurs. Search your basement for a tiny Swiss chalet. That'll be the nest. Spider them. Move a family of black widows in next door. The WASP's will surely flee.

Interesting choice of decor. I take it you don't have your boss and his wife over very often.

Aren't your condemning it to a SLOW death. It can't fly off being all sticky. Plus, all the chemicals are probably toxic.

It would be better to kill it outright after hairspraying it.

Best thing to do is use a jar. Stop being such a pussy.

LMFAO!

Oh, about 3 days. Make sure you don't enter the basement after it dies, because the wasp will have used up all the oxygen & you'll die of asphyxiation. Good think you noticed the wasp. This is an under-reported silent killer. People get a spider in their basement, don't notice it, go down into the basement a few days later & drop over dead because there wasn't enough oxygen left.

WRONG!

It takes an average wasp 11 days to consume 20,000 cubic feet of oxygen.

I'm guessing you have a grasshopper infestation down there. Wear a mask.
